Sorry, been in Portugal for a week so a bit behind with my emails and postings! As Dan says, we'll have all the info up this week but it should be excellent value for money!

Campsite found

I put in a few calls and checked out a local Scout Campsite. They were happy to have us but due to there being kids on site everyone over the age of 18 would have to be CRB checked. They told me about they’re friends privately owned campsite and it looks ideal.

www.manorfarmcows.com

Location

A cow farm which has set aside a field for camping and caravanning. Looks nice on the website! A 10 minute drive from the club. Two pubs within walking distance. One with v.good food in a 'rural' setting, the other more of a high street pub.

Rates
per night

13 for a tent as big as you like
9 for smaller tent

I have a 12 man canvas palace along with a couple more if I can get my blagging socks on and they're needed. I'll try and get a mess tent for kit drying/ socialising etc. Space in currently available however, not at my expense. A couple of quid a night buys the privilege to kip in Chateau Burkin without the worry of having to deal with the beast (or any tent) when you get home.

Alternative currency includes; Beer, Carbon, Epoxy or lift back from the pub.

Basic facilities on site only include a shower and toilet block and a small shop selling “drinks and sweets and stuff”. Space is currently available but the quicker we book the better. BBQs are welcomed (and provided!) but no open fires unfortunately.

I'll be there for a day or two before racing starts.

Ross, this is great. Thanks for finding this. I can confirm that Ross's canvas Palace really is a great way to spend a nationals having had a room in their last year! £13 a tent per night sleeping 12 people works out at just over a quid a night for accomodation... not sure that can be sniffed at really!

I'd like to book a room please Ross. You can probably have payment in stirling and beer!

What? UK Cherub National Championship

When? Wednesday 12th - Saturday 15th August

Where? Babacombe Corinthian SC, Torbay, Devon

How much?....

Just depending on if when I pick my boat up this week, it is actually how it should be. And we actually get the boat wet before hand, me and the littlen' may come down for a couple of days. It depends on how well 'mighty mouse' copes with his first experiences of the 'Wailing Irish Witch.' So it would be good to know what the damage is so I can do a Credit Crunch analysis.

Entry is £135 if received before August 5th. (Late entry is £150).

This includes entry for the 12 race series inclusive of:
buffet and reception on the tuesday evening,
bbq on the beach on wednesday,
chilli and some sort of live entertainment on thursday night,
pizza and bbq night at the local pub with scenic views on friday night,
prize giving on the beach after racing on saturday.

Also included in the price is the 2009 UK Cherub Nationals T-shirt for each crew member, a DVD of photos and videos taken by Fotoboat at the event and the opportunity to win some Allen Brothers goodie bags!

Bargain or what?!  ;D

That is a price per boat (2 people). I will update the website with the entry form, SI and NOR asap. Payment will be via cheque or paypal for which there will be a link posted on the website.

Sorry all the info is not there right now but keep your eyes peeled as it will be up in the next day or so, I just thought it was best to get all the details out in the open as soon as I could.

Really want to join in with this but am still stuck as to boat arrangements and crew. Though crew is probably easier to sort.

Sorry I'm not going to be able to make it..... Mike's let me down and the boat won't be ready for at least 2 weeks.

Two weeks? That still leaves at least two full weeks to get her ready. I'm really lookng forward to examining the transom of your much expected beast, am starting to wonder if she just exists in photoshop ;)
