Lets hope this new repair is better than the last.
Dn't forget that epoxy laminates need time to get up to full strength. Temperature makes a big difference to the amount of time, but the longer the better... ( well up to a week anyway). Overnight use repairs need to be cooked throughly and overbuilt!

Campsite found

I put in a few calls and checked out a local Scout Campsite. They were happy to have us but due to there being kids on site everyone over the age of 18 would have to be CRB checked. They told me about they’re friends privately owned campsite and it looks ideal.

www.manorfarmcows.com

Location

A cow farm which has set aside a field for camping and caravanning. Looks nice on the website! A 10 minute drive from the club. Two pubs within walking distance. One with v.good food in a 'rural' setting, the other more of a high street pub.

Rates
per night

13 for a tent as big as you like
9 for smaller tent

I have a 12 man canvas palace along with a couple more if I can get my blagging socks on and they're needed. I'll try and get a mess tent for kit drying/ socialising etc. Space in currently available however, not at my expense. A couple of quid a night buys the privilege to kip in Chateau Burkin without the worry of having to deal with the beast (or any tent) when you get home.

Alternative currency includes; Beer, Carbon, Epoxy or lift back from the pub.

Basic facilities on site only include a shower and toilet block and a small shop selling “drinks and sweets and stuff”. Space is currently available but the quicker we book the better. BBQs are welcomed (and provided!) but no open fires unfortunately.

I'll be there for a day or two before racing starts.

The camp site is almost full. I highly recommend booking ASAP.
The Welsh, Space Cadet and I are booked.

Completely spanking sailing all 3 days so far.

Day 1: Sunny and windy with crazy squergles at the windward mark that could really tip you in. Plenty of twinning and good tactical stuff: in under the cliffs and risk the mad lulls, or out into the pressure but risk the headers.

Day 2: Very warm and sunny, with no wind at all. Held on shore by the wise and patient race committee. The wind filled in beautifully, clocking round to the west steadily giving completely superb sailing for 3 races, then a rather lite & sh*te 1 lapper to finish and struggling home in the failing breeze.

Day 3: No sunshine, and breeze looked crap from the beach. The news from the race boat was 'there's plenty of breeze out here, get off the beach you lazy shower!' They were right. Plenty to twin up and down wind, with the wind backing steadily for the first 2 races then veering suddenly in the middle of race 3, making it a bit of a drag race. Final race was lighter and shiftier but still good stuff.

Interim results:

Pete & Roz (Ronin): 11111111111
Will and Lucy (Antidote to Panel Games): 2 2 2 2 3 2 5 2 2 2 2
Paul & Chris (Atum Bom)3rd:very fast in the heavy stuff
Andy & Jill (Ousagi Yobimbo) 4th: Very fast in the light stuff
Graham & Eddie (Riot Van)
Dean & Simon (Loco Perro)
All to play for further down the fleet.......

Another 3 races tomorrow.

Babbacombe Corinthian Sailing Club hosted the Allen 2009 Cherub Nationals from 12th-15th August. BCSC is based at Oddicombe Beach just north of Torbay, and Cherubs shared the beach with weather-dependent families on their annual holidays to the English Riviera.

....to be continued....

A truly memorable nationals this year. A huge thanks to B.C.S.C who made us all feel very welcome, an outstanding effort by all their members. With a wide range of wind strengths there was something for everyone and racing was extremely close . Starts were spot on  also , there was even a general recall.
Thanks to all envolved in sorting this out, and if you missed this year ,make sure you make it to Largo in 2010 even if you have to catch swine flu for the week ;)

Diggers, you have to have a facebook account to get onto that page, and when you are in you click the photo tab, there are 3 albums in there

Pete n Roz won every race but one.
Lucy and I were second in most, but won one (a step forward from last year)
Paul and Chris in Atum were third.

The whole field is closer than ever, and many place changes occurred even on the last race.

An epic nationals. A complete series with really good cherub weather throughout. The last day was the windiest, probably 20kn+ in the gusts. not Uber windy but enough to get air. Close racing, excellent race organisation, great socials.

No sign of any official results, but I am sure they will be along soon.

Team Stanley brought up the rear in 14th place! Given our boat was probably the oldest by 15 years thats not bad.
