Launch of 3213 - Evo
« on: May 20, 2012, 11:04:50 PM »
Well it has finally hit the water. Some issues with the amount that appears to travel through the centreboard case. However, this is a moot point after we hit a the slipway at chew and broke the board in half.

Some video here:

Which would imply an upgrade of some sort to the other E6's; so my question really should have been "whats upgraded" ?

isnt it the whole Biscuit-tin jointed hull, with integral rack supports?

OK, so it's Evo for various reasons.

1. Evolution, yes. Doesn't mean it's better or an upgrade, just different. It is an E6 below the waterline but much has changed above it and the structure is totally different - it is a two piece moulding so the rack supports are part of the hull and deck structure - not separately added afterwards. There are no roll decks - the joining of top and bottom is a la biscuit tin.  There's more, but I have to do some work.

2. There's a bit of a fast car reference.

3. Backwards it spells Ove. The founder of Arup. Arup used to be known as Ove Arup, but the modern marketing excludes reference to the forward thinking fella. So it's a nod to him.

4. It starts with an E.

5. It gives Roland something (else) to shout at me when hoisting ("'eave-'o"). Nevermind.

It was an interesting launch - and not a splash of pink paint in sight. Unless you count the pathetic remnants of the crew's nail varnish.

I'd get the crews union onto that Hayley...damaged nail varnish - That's serious!

btw My previous guess was 'Evo' = Evo-stick - the glue used to join the 2 parts of the hull together  :)

...and the writing on the topsides is cool too...Team Trim. Especially how it flips into mirror writing midway through the video (might explain the kite sock Ben)

Looking good, it seems quite neat and tidy.
I just think you needed a couple more camera angles in the Video
