Will- it was honestly epic, Sunday was the best racing we've ever had outside the nationals... the only thing missing was the Lee's - consider that pressure to get the Fiat full of family down to Weston :)

Ill secind that, what a super weekend and how welcoming Thornbury club are.

What a cracking weekends racing, layed on by an incredibly friendly club. I hope that all who went enjoyed it as much as I did, can't wait for the next round at Weston.

Definitely the best sailing and racing  I have had since the last nationals. Great club and sailing area. I also really enjoyed the additional challenge of predicting the angles in the mega tide.

It was pointed out how the tacking up the shore improves your boat handling and boat on boat tactics.

Tacking against the tide also favours boats that point high so there is a difficult balance between reducing the number of tacks and sailing more into the stronger tide, going slow and high against low and fast, not hitting the mud and not getting pinned by another boat.  usually you find that the fireball has beeten you to the windward mark or even the day boat.

On saturday we just went for the minimise tacks option and keep out of the way of other boats.

I'm glad you all enjoyed it.  I will feed back to the club.

I'm glad you all enjoyed it too. I had two great races on Sunday trying to hold off Paul and Graham and at least finish 1st over the water.
Sorry to those of you who had to shoot off before the results were published. We'll be having a de-brief at the club at the next commitee meeting as we always want to try and improve the event and obviously want to see you all back again next year.

I'll have to try and lobby the RYA for a reduction of the Cherub PY to 860!!!!

I'll second all the opinions about the weekend.  We even pioneered a new launching technigue best described as capsized drag by rib off mud.  Much less tiring than wading out to deep water.

Oh and a note on the report - rule 7?  Is that the rule that states no cherub shall have any equipment sourced from a SMOD - or another rule I'm not aware of?  ???

TSC

Given that the RYA struggle to get PY returns for small classes and this can distort the published PY's the class should support any club that can provide Sail wave result returns to the RYA to help to update the Cherub handicap.

Then we can look forward to beating you fair and sqaure next year and enjoy that nice smug feeling of success ;-)

For anyone wondering about the band mentioned in the report, this is them, http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=As_G-x_KsN4#at=46

Just combine that, with a worryingly flexible first floor sailing club floor and phils dancing and you are getting close to how mad it really was
