Inlands 2010
« on: September 12, 2010, 05:50:07 PM »
Is this going to happen?
My possible crew has a family so he can not just book off every weekend for the rest of the year.
When is the Chorus regatta could we do that again?

I spoke to Simon on Friday and he has identified 3 possible options.
Queen Mary have recently been asked if we can hold an event there and we are awaiting a response.

Draycote have a multiclass event planned in october and we are enquiring if we can be included ( but checking that the event would be suitable for us to join in with).
Corus regatta is the back up but 2nd- 3rd October i.e. 3 weeks away.

Obviously as dave has pointed out it is only fair to give competitors a bit of notice and we are running close to the wire to give that notice for corus at least. Like Dave we have quite a few weekends committed already and can not just make any weekend.  i hope we are lucky and can make the chosen date.

These sort of key events really need to be organised a year in advance and we hope to have next year's travellers venues agreed at least before the sailing season starts. many clubs have fixed their programmes by christmas so it pays to get in early if possible.

Good news.  Subject to confirmation by our fixtures sec. Queen Mary have agreed to host our Inlands on the 9/10 October.  Entry £25 per boat.  More details to follow once Stu and Simon have confirmed they are happy with the arrangements.

There will be plenty of floor space available at ours in Lower Sunbury (5 mins from club), 2 single beds and a camp bed available for those who are quickest.  For those who want a little more comfort than our floor there is a new Travelodge and a very new Permier Inn in Sunbury Cross.  I suggest the social will be a few drinks in a couple of the Sunbury riverside pubs which are quite decent, and then as tradition would have it to the local curry house a few doors from the pub which those who have been to it I think will agree with me is pretty good on the food front.

Yes, confirmed with QMSC.  We will have our own course on Saturday.  Start time 12:30 with 3 races back to back.  Race Officer confirmed for that day - Chris Anstead a mothie so used to fast windward leeward boats.

Sunday we will race with the club (2 races) .  Haven't worked out the finer points but I expect we will have our own start and sail the same course as the fast asyms - windward leeward.  I have asked if they will run us a short third race immediately afterwards (to be confirmed).

Nearer the time I will publish the 'Insider guide to launching and recovering your Cherub at QMSC'  It is quite safe and simple if you do what we do, a bit more tricky if you try and carry your cherub to the water on your shoulder!

Do we have any standard class rules that the inlands NOR needs to refer to?  I'm putting together the NOR with the QMSC gen sec
