I think a plan b is a good idea considering the forecast. Happy to go to hayling as racing in the harbour is generally possible in most wind and tide conditions.

I agree...(consider) Hayling or Netley

...and have PM'd Simon Jones about gear left at Sheppey (GB said he could pick it up if necessary)

We will be racing at Hayling unless the forecast changes dramatically.
Visitors are welcome at Hayling however in the best HISC tradition it is quite expensive.
£11.25 per boat if signed in by a club member.
Ben and I are members so that should not be a problem.
The club will take a very dim view of the class if people do not pay.
Club sailing on Sunday should be good.
High water is at 11:05. We start the club race at 11:10.
Summer club racing should be out in the bay. It will be in the harbour if conditions are not suitable.

As a class should we be talking to the royal Vic about this.

I feel that this rather answers some of the questions raised by Graham regarding venues.
If the Royal Vic were running the meeting specifically for us and had rostered RO safety crews etc they would not be impressed if we do not turn up, which would rather reduce our chances of a repeat.

Clive.

I'll talk to the club later today. I think they'll understand, they are the ones who pointed out how poor the forecast was for the weekend.

My suggestion is that we'll make a call Wednesday at 8pm based on Windguru at that time. That way we do our best to honour the RV expectation.

If we decide its not sensible, then whoever would like to can gather at Hayling for a blast/club race there; of course that wont be a travellers event or anything official - we'll think about recouping the travellers event another day.

Overall the low is coming through just a smidgen earlier than predicted by BBC Weather Centre earlier this week...if Windguru Solent East shifts its prediction forward Saturday might happen but currently indicates not sailable until 7pm...Sunday looks very sailable.

Does Windguru update at 8pm? Windguru could be wrong...and things will update through the next few days. It all just needs to come through 6 hrs earlier. Tough call GB.

Looking at the Met Office, and Windguru, seems to me that nowhere is sailable Saturday, anywhere on Sunday.

Given that, the logistics involved in getting to RV, I think reluctantly, and if noone has any violent objections,  we should politely withdraw from this one, and those that want to make a day out at Hayling do so - that wouldnt be a wasted day I dont think.

I agree with Graham, can't see any sailing taking place on Saturday anywhere on the South coast.

It's a pity as we were looking forward to RV but it's just not cost effective or worth the hassle for one days sailing. Going to make a trip to Hayling on Sunday as it looks like perfect sailing conditions.

We are arranging our weekend around hayling.
I have told helen that I will sail the 200 with her on Saturday. That should stess test it nicely.
Hayling seem to get more 200s out when all racing is cancelled than at any other time.
Conditions loook good for Cherubing on Sunday.

Any one who is planning on coming please let me know so that we can be organised with sign in.

Sorry guys, we'll be sitting this one out. I might get some tiles on my bathroom wall. Thanks for the offer of Hayling Clive, looking forward to a visit there some time soon.

Very tempted by Hayling but not going to risk it just in case...BBC are still showing winds more than Sam and I are going to be comfortable in at Hayling on Sunday.

Very keen on Royal Vic re-run if possible

I am aiming to get there pretty early, around 9:30 ish. The queues onto the island can get pretty bad if you leave it too late and there is a wayfarer and solo open there this weekend. Wind is looking good :)

Hi Graham,
It would be good to see you at HISC.
The fast start is at 11:10. It may be out in the bay so you may need to launch before 10:40.
As Ben says it will be quite busy with the SoSlo open. You will be parking well down the causeway.
Allow some time to sign in etc.
We will try and be there quite early as well.
Do you get any help rigging? Alex needs a lot of training in that department.

We tend to rig round the back of the club and launch off the North slipway, as that is where we park the RS200, and there is more sand for the roll over.

Give me a call when you get there.

I hope that you are not going to undo all the hard work we have done trying to get a decent yardstick.
