Yes we are keeping Kokopelli anyway, she now has a new gantry and a brand new kite in black from Topper, a Xenon kite.  16. 3m.  May go to rutland tomoro to try out.  Dont think we can do deans birthday bash or any May/June events as I am in for a prostectomy on 23 April.  Nationals all sorted for Kokopelli and could be 1 more.  will need a double trailer!

Glad UR keeping Kokopelli...superb boat

Hope op goes well...no reason why it shouldn't

I did see someone mention a double trailer with one of the for sale boats...might be worth asking - You might be able to organise a crafty swap +/- a consideration (might have been Shiny Beast or I might have imagined it - will look)

My crew is driving myself and 'This way up' on a 200 doublestacker from the Datchet area, and we would happily carry another boat, providing its trolley fits (We haven't tried TWU on the road trailer yet, but shouldn't be a problem)

Would anyone be up for sharing a cottage in Cricceth? Not too far from Abersoch by car- 15mins I think.

Anyway, I'm staying there atm for the youths and it has worked out around £110 per person (there are 3 of us, so if anymore want to stay the price goes down.)

It is really very good, though one person staying will have to have a car, as I doubt I will have passed my test by then..

Keep us posted on the mystery boat Ade - always good to find long lost boats and bring them back into the fold. Where did you find her? And best of luck with the op.

Our nationals accommodation is all sorted. Subject to Googlemaps telling the truth, we should be in easy walking distance of the club. So all being well when someone loses the car keys we won't need to find them until it's time to go home  ;)  (Maff and Stu know where I'm coming from)

Hi Piers, Sam and I would be up for a place in the cottage. Criccieth is very close and I passed my test in 1982.

Sam (15) would benefit from less wrinkly companions :O)

We are driving up from Birmingham on the Monday...hopefully in time for a practice,

Ok, I will see what I can do. If you PM me an email/phone number and I'll keep in touch.

There are 1/2 more spaces if anybody else is in need- would be a good way to get the cost down.

Where abouts in Datchet? I'll probably be heading over from Datchet too with either a cherub or the Rib depending on availability of boats and people!

Hi all, ade here.  i have a new boat  8).  It is 'Sweet Dreams' hopefully I only have a cosmetic job to do before the Nats.   So i should be bringing 2 boats, Koko and SD.  It looks like the same as the existing 2663 pics shown.   Hopefully i am trying to convince my bro and neice to come and sail the spare boat.  If not i will let you all know.  I think i have a double trailer sorted.
Still no sailing for me yet! nearly 6 weeks in from major operation but hopefully back on the water soon, therefore, I will not make Thornbury :(.
If anyone has info on build of Sweet Dreams or any other info appreciated?.  i think it is up to 2005 rules?

Hi Ade,

The lineage of Sweet Dreams goes back to the Flying Trifle 2652. The Trifle was professionally designed by yacht designer Christian Stimpson for Martin Harrison and the late John Lobb. John and Martin built and sailed her for a couple of years before selling her on. John then got into the M-Xray class while Martin took up Moths. About 1995 Martin wanted a new Cherub to sail with his girlfriend, so he designed nd built Sweet Dreams his Death by Chocolate design. It is to some extent a development of the Trifle design, but is a bit different particularly around the back end. There is a slight V in the bottom of the hull even at the transom. I recall it was built to a high standard, I think in foam and glass with local carbon/kevlar reinforcement. It was certainly as quick as other boats of that era. I believe it has been modified / upgraded in recent years and is now sporting an '05 rig, but others on here can probably give you more accurate info about her recent history.

Found this in "Cherub News" February 1995:

Death by Chocolate

It's on the way, the second boat from the Harrison / Stimpson team. After the long awaited arrival of the Pasta Frenzy, I looked at the mainstream designs, Dog, Platypus, Bistro and the Pasta and after talking to their owners, I decided to go a slightly different way.

The Flying Trifle with it's flat transom and low rocker did what it was designed for - to plane flat on the water. However the only problem with that was when you reached a certain speed waves became a problem and sometimes the transom went airborne. The Turbo version, i.e. with the chines chopped off at the back, did help but where John and I were a little on the heavy side and with a middle wind strength speed was down a little. No problem on a windy day though, the speed was back.

The Death by Chocolate is very different. She has a more even rocker line with a finer bow than the Italian Bistro. After sailing the Bistro and Pasta designs I liked the bow shape and have taken it one stage further. Top sides are straight then twisting at the transom like the Trifle. The stern instead of rounded is more of a V. The idea is to try and help lift the bow and help reduce weather and lee helm. DBC has more rocker than the Trifle but less than the Pasta, but has a slightly narrower transom than the Pasta.

Construction will be similar to the Trifle. Carbon, Kevlar/Glass/Epoxy foam. Inside of the boat will be similar to the Trifle. Hull colour may be brighter than the old boat but I'm open to people's ideas! The mast will be made of that black stuff. Launch time as soon as money will allow.
