Bonfire Blast
« on: October 19, 2011, 12:24:24 PM »
Thanks to Mr Noyce, we can have a blast weekend at Netley Sailing Club on 5/6 November.

Cost is £2 per day per person plus £2.50 per night per person for camping. So basically £13 per boat for 2 days' sailing and camping on the Saturday night.
The galley will be open on Sunday for hot breakfast / lunches.
There's lots of beach for rigging and launching.

There has been mention of Saturday night entertainment (a rum bar perhaps?) and no doubt given the date there will be lots of sparkly things in the sky to look at.

Please confirm interest here

So far interested parties are:
The Badger
Atum Bom
KKT (in long or short mode?)
EJ and/or Born Slippy
Riot Van (tentative/weather dependent etc)

I could make various comments about it promising to be a firecracker of a weekend, seeing the season out with a bang, groan...

I think Mrs. Trim was referring to Loco with KKT 'short mode'

It could have been any of a number of Tom's armada! He owns more ships than the Mongolian navy!

team cheese may be interested. the duck boat is currently stripped of all ropes, fittings, etc in an effort to get it running well enough to impress tall kiddle next time he sees it.
The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist hopes it will change; the realist adjusts the sail

cherub 2645 - cheese before bedtime

Unfortunately  this is my birthday and I think I am also working so it will be doubtful if I can make it. As Netly and back between milkings might be pushing it a bit

No doubt you are referring to the present day Mongolian navy as opposed to the 13th century when it was the largest in the world... Now of course it just has the one boat which doubles as a freight carrier.
Ok I'm sorry, but am on a train and i'm bored.

Andrew, Born Slippy may be on offer if other arrangements haven't been sorted out by then.

It could be a good opportunity to see how you get on with This Way Up.

Loco would be quite a good freight carrier...  ;D
Only because she is so practical - not a reflection of her sailing performance obviously

dug yourself out of that one nicely Hayley!

Andrew, come down regardless, the beauty of a blast is that people chop and change and as there are no races to get in the way then everyone has a go at sailing everyone elses boats.

We are looking to let some fireworks off the beach so hopefully it will be a clear night. Either way, we will probably find our way down into Hamble for some food and drinks later in the evening.

Simon, if you think that was bored, watch this space. I'm on a 3 hour stopping service from cambridge to birmingham now - I could come up with some really useless information!

Well if you will go to seminars/drinking contests and get on the wrong train what do you expect.
