best carbon fibre for a deck

There is also a huge amount on the technical pages of the wiki - this is perhaps even more useful as it is where a huge ammont of what others before us have done can be unearthed. It is also likely to be the source where most of the "it is done like this" can be traced back to. That and alot of people who have loved these boats for years. (I am a JCL).
 
That reminds me. I'm guessing everyone reading this who is a member knows they can edit anything on the main site - it is a full on wiki (like wikipedia, except editable by Cherrubists and about Cherubs).

There is a lot on the Tech Pages but not that much on cloth choice at the moment.

I would worry about using Biax as the surface layer, as I expect it to show small cracks along the length of the fibers, if it is used anywhere that there is flex. it also splinters  when you drill holes if you are not very carefull which may be an issue on the deck.
You could use a layer of 100g glass over the top to stop this, but this is getting heavy.

I have used 1 layer of 200g woven carbon at +- 45 on the top and bottom surfaces with 1 layer of 100g woven Glass on the top surface in the crew standing area.
