A nice short hop in the boat? Rumors are that Loco has already entered, Born Slippy is definitely thinking of it.

I really like the idea of this race. Long distance races are so much more interesting than round the cans.

I am, however, paranoid about running aground and am therefore worried about the depth in some places around the course. I intend to have a chat with the organisers on this issue at Ally Pally.

With that new daggerboard you'd run aground in the shipping channel ;D On a more serious note we have done this race many times, and gone aground a few . However the rescue cover is good ,and the race is great. And yes unless the weather is really bad we will be going round.

is this the one where you have to carry the boat over the bridge or swim it under?

Sounds like a good race.

A simple matter of landing on the mainland, tilting the boat over to allow the mast to fit under the bridge. walk the boat to the other side underneath the bridge , get back on and sail.

We may have a serious lack of mast issue for this one.  I think the good Dr May get the last laugh on Handicap.

2 weeks away from an event this should be a no-brainer, but the flat in  Utrecht is too shiny for building a mast in. If I am lucky enough to get bird/pig/plane-flu between now and then things may change...

Current plans are that we will be there, although rudder and stock are in the menders after developing some large cracks but I am expecting them back in time.

As with you Simon, weather dependant - can you tell me what time and where exactly I should pitch up ?

The start time for us is 11.00 am and if you head for the club there will be marshalls and signs. Usually cars with boats are asked to go further down the road towards town, then turn right up on to the prom. I don't know what your plans are after ,but I believe the club are sorting out curry ( the cherub effect?) . If you fancy a beer and want to kip over you would be welcome at mine.

We were going but the forecast is not so good.
Basically it is a long way for us to go and then back out.
Maybe next year!
Good luck to the Lee's,
See all of you at Lymington
