From those figures it sounds like they are only than about a max 1/5th of a sq.m ish over.

Have any 800 kites managed to measure in successfuly?
Are kites' area likely to increase or decrease with age?

If there is a chance they might measure I would be keen to try and measure 1 in if only to know that I have it for a spare if required (then it is also lendable if others need it) - and I would be doing the measurers a favour keeping them out of the bar the night before the Nationals!  ;)

Put another way - Yes.
It is laid out clearly in the first section of the rules and involves getting 6 names and a ballot. If you or any other fully paid up memeber wishes to propose a rule change to this effect then you may (but personally I think MK might have a point). The most recent price form Hydes put the Cherub kite significantly cheaper :0)

Peter, All the RS800 kites I've tried came out over. However there is a large variation between the ones I have put on previous boats (although of course I am not suggesting they didn't all start the same). The modification to make them measure is very minor (about 10 minutes total).
