Northampton SC is on Pitsford Resevoir, a nice piece of water about the same size as corus. Suicide Blonde and Ronin turned out in the Assymetric flight, lining up against most of the RS showroom, a 49 tonner, some 29ers, Hobie 405s, and Vortex's, a Laser 2k and some foiling moths and 600's. The format was the double and single handed fleets did a race first, they came off the water and the assymetrics launched and completed a race, before coming back off the water to give the first fleet a go and then the assymetrics sailed their second race.
As soon as Suicide launched, half hour before the start, the wind died almost completely. Not even enough to fill the kite. This meant we were about 5mins late going through the start. For the first few laps it was play-pen conditions. Ronin were right at the front of the fleet up the first work, but made a bad call coming into the mark and rounded in 4th behind a B14, the 9er and a 400. Suicide was playing catch-up with the 405's, but in true Blonde tradition, went for the porn-star twinability downind meaning we weren't actually getting any closer to the mark. Ronin finished 2nd on handicap.
For the second race, both Cherubs made the start which had a port-bias and the left of the course paying. By now it was single wiring to moderate conditions. Suicide came in fast on starboard and found a gap in the middle of the line, just to w/ward of the Whitstable 29er. Suicide were looking good up the beat, heading for the favoured left hand side, before a port/starboard incident with a Hobie 405 meaning they dropped out the groove. Downwind lead to some impressive sends. Ronin won on handicap, and Suicide were somewhere near the back.
In the end Stuberry enjoyed a pint of
Tinners and Pete and Roz won the Steve Nicholson trophy overall.
