2014 Late May BH
« on: September 03, 2013, 11:29:40 AM »
Just thought I would throw an idea Jill and I had last night out there to see if it is of interest

How about some training/blast/informal racing at QMSC over the early May BH next year.  It could be a 2-3 day event combining some training and racing.  QMSC I'm sure wouldn't mind us joining the Sunday morning racing if we wanted to and on Monday there is usually an open 'Bloody Mary' style pursuit race albeit with many less boats than the classic event.

So we could train/blast Saturday, race/blast Sunday (the water is usually quite empty following Sunday racing) and the keenest could do the pursuit race Monday.

Interested??

I think we are provisionally planning on attending Kielder for 2 days of Open meeting and the Dam to Dam race.

http://www.kielderwatersc.org/open-meetings/openevents.html#WL

It's a long drive, but a great club and potentially a lot closer for the northern boats to come and have a play!

Obviously that is the 2013 dates... but it is normally the first BH Weekend so have assumed it will be the same next year at this stage!

Potentially we could do both - there is another BH late May.  Same format, warmer weather.

There was interest in this idea for the late May BH at the Sticky Weekend.  Perhaps it can be added to the fixtures list but not as a traveler event.  I'll speak to Paul J

All,

If anyone fancies a couple of days sailing at QMSC over the late May BH let me know.  It would be possible to drop your boats off at QMSC after the Weirwood open.  You would be able to sail upto 3 days if you are that keen:

Sat - blasting
Sunday - 2 club races/afternoon blasting
Monday - open Bloody Mary style pursuit race (with glass prizes).  We did the one last weekend - great course for cherubs and much less crowded and much warmer than the BM.  I expect there would be about 30 boats to overtake......

We will most likely sail one of Sat or Sunday (whichever has better Cherub weather) and Monday, though if other cherubs are around we could do all 3 days.

I think it is £15 to day sail at QMSC.   If anyone wants to overnight they are welcome to stay at ours (5 mins from QMSC)

If you fancy a hotel there is a premier inn and a travelodge at Sunbury Cross.  Or you can stay at our place, only 2 beds but plenty of floor space.

How many Hobbits can you fit to a bed?

We will be doing the open pursuit race at HISC on the Monday.
If anyone fancies salty water, sandy beaches, sea breezes, dolphins and mermaids you are welcome to join us.
You will have to put up with a PY of 769, a fast outgoing tide and a queue to get off the island.

Clive.

I think we're gonna have to decline due to an outrageously busy weekend involving more then one big boat :)
