Medway Marathon - June 7-8
« on: April 16, 2008, 11:09:08 AM »
Anyone fancy a weekend sailing on the Med?

On the 8th of June I'll be celebrating my 30th birthday by taking part in the Medway Marathon (this is a sailing race not a running event). Wilsonian are  offering a lazy saturday (race at 16.30) as a shake-down to the main event on Sunday. Accomodation is either camping near the club or our flat (45 minutes drive away).

I'll be there regardless, but wondered if anyone else fancied it?

Will be based on Med for the summer, so not too keen on detouring via 7-oaks. Bruce might be comming - but surely you can hitch a lift with the 14??

jet lag has got into day mode now.  Take my last post as a pre-emptive request for the low down on the event.  Good luck!  Also latest dinghy sailing magazine has got a good article on tactics.

Medway MegaFun, turned into  a drift fest. Had a fun race with an RS800, but gave up at less than 1/2 way when it became clear that the sea beeze had decided not to arrive that day. Probably the dullest kite run home - 5 miles with neither H or I hiking.

Mr Unaman scored an event 2nd place in an MX. Helped by an earlier start and therefore less tide and some wind the slower handicaps got away better and got marrooned 10 miles down stream. Tim ended his day on the back of a tow boat. Much respect for sticking at it...

I did not get a tow in, we could just about see you on our sail in.
