E5 Gantry mould

Does anyone know where the mould for the E5 gantry ended up?  We did a bit of boat breaking last weekend and require its services.

I made up a gantry mould to build john H.s gantry. I'm pretty sure that I made it the same size as the orriginal E5 gantry.  It semi flat packs. and requires parcel tape, silicone and some screws to put it together again. You are welcome to use it.

Are you coming over this way or do know someone who's coming from bristol.  Otherwise i expect it could be posted.

I have a pre moulded gantry from said mould which just needs finishing and drilling if you're interested. It's in my parents garage in Clanfield, Hampshire

* I should add that I have offered this to Ross but I'm sure that if you could make use of it asap and we could arrange getting the mould up to Ross so he can make a new one then I am sure he won't mind!

We broke one on EJ when I landed on it, the repair was significantly easier than making a new one.

We also have a mould you are welcome to use. This one is asymmetric when viewed from the side of the boat and raises the stock further from the water. Similar to Phil's mine flat packs, but unlike Phil's it has a tendency to do this when you handle it (it is only held together with tape). Can happily make a part from the tool here or send the parts  (the one for the AS is different again, as the gantry is offset from the center line on plan).

The choice for moulds appears fairly broad, would suggest you base the decision on bits measured from your boat.
These are key as they do vary...

1) distance between gudgeon on stock
2) distance between slits in the hinge supports

Thanks all for the replies.  Seems to me the original one will be the safest bet as this was the mould used for the current one.  Dave I'll PM you to see what arrangements we can make.

I take your point Roland and we will be repairing (yet again) the current one.  However given breaking it is short term sailing ending and we are doing a couple of long trips with the boat this year then investing in a new one and having a back up seems a sensible choice.  I was wondering what to give Jill for her birthday anyway...........

Do you have any pictures? Is the break re-occurring at the same point/area?

We had an issue with panel buckling on our last attempt - If the damage looks similar there may be some simple alterations to make to avoid the repetition.

The repair broke due to the incompetence of the repair man (me).  It did last a year and a half though.  No fault in the design or construction

Instead of starting a new thread I thought I would resurrect this one as it is at least on topic!

I know that some of you will have a decent memory, or perhaps even photos... but at what height is it best to mount the pivot for the rotating gantry. I have a E5 style gantry which I am looking to put on Numb and am thinking about the best way to do it.

My first thought was that I could chop the current gantry off and mount the pivot onto the transom cross beam but I thought this would end up being quite high.

Most of the E-Boats have the gantry pivot on the top of the floor if I remember correctly? What is the depth of the transom on the E-Boats as I have a feeling that they are a lot deeper than the Bistro (from memory the bistro floor is only the depth of a bung, so perhaps 30-40mm maximum.

I am thinking that most likely I will have to remove all of the gantry and then put in a new cross beam at the correct height as this will allow me to stiffen up the whole area at the same time. I'll take a photo later to confirm.

From memory the pivot on Atum was 340mm above the bottom of the centre of the transom.

On Antidote it was lower. Possibly 250mm?

I drew the gantry to be asymmetric from the side, with the bottom being flat with the rudder post straight down. I think I enhanced this by putting the rudder pin in leaning with the top behind the bottom.

Top man, thanks Will. I'm in no hurry to do it so can probably model up the back of the boat, the gantry and the proposed mods in order to make sure I get it in the right place.

The 6's transom height is 150mm with maybe another 50mm to the pivot point.
