foot straps
« on: April 24, 2012, 08:42:28 AM »
Anyone know which are good ones to get?
the ones on atum are too small for my feet so the rivets(???) that hold them in place have pulled out
I was thinking along the lines of the velcro ones on marmite or eleanor.

Pulling out is not a bad thing. They were probably fitted to "break before your ankle does".

We came away from Santander with a desire to use the windsurf loops. I find the amount of space in the shocks mean that I'm moving before the top of my foot hits the loop and it may explain why they were gettign trashed (stopping a moving thing generates big static loads). That said, the rest of the world loves them and they may well be correct.

We picked up a set of 4 velcro adjustable neoprene board loops from the very nice windsurf shop in Sheppy on Sunday. They were reduced to clear at £15 for the set and will be fitted by tying them in place with elastic and then taping over the elastic to stop it all rotating.

Also worth noting that the velcro came unstitched from the foot straps on Marmite almost straight away and we ended up drilling and lashing them on anyway.

Sounds like a sound plan. I might see if I can repair the current ones but if not adjustable seems to be a good idea.

The ones on Eleanor come from LDC and are 800 straps. They seem to work really well.
