The Squid was designed by Mike Rolf soon after the 1997 rules changes. It has a very fine entry with flattish u-sections forward, minimal rocker and rise, and upright-ish topsides. The idea was that keeping the bow straight and fine should prevent most of the nose-diving that pre-97 Cherubs can be prone to. The design has shown plenty of speed at times, but is by its nature (flat with sharp chines) quite tricky to sail and you have to keep her very flat to avoid getting wet.
