New Website

If you are reading this then you have made it to our new website: Welcome!

This website is a continuation of Jim Champs's hard work which started (can you believe it?) in 1995 when he created one of the first class association websites. Jim, an IT professional, handbuilt much of the site and it grew to a total of over 1000 pages of hints, tips, news, historical articles, how-tos and how-we-dids.

After 11 years of growth the website needed a good clear out, and with more activity within the class than anyone can remember, we set out to reduce the load on the webmaster too.

Now all class association members can update the website, including collaborating on event reports so no-one's point of view is neglected! As well as this, features can be added, extended by any member as technology and techniques change.

Other features include an image lookup in which our extensive image archive of approaching 5000 images can be interrogated by boat or by date, a playground where anyone can see how easy it is to contribute to a wiki website, and a contact feature whereby individuals are contactable by email without revealing their email to potential spammers.

For the technically minded, the wiki-engine basis for the website is dokuwiki, written in php. Dokuwiki is a free opensource software project, which means that anyone can conribute to improve the project (including your webmaster), and it is free. More about free / opensource software.

Have a look around and admin the webmaster if you have any questions or comments.

Here is an example of the image lookup in action:
