Ok, so I'm home now. Time to find a real job...

Check out these Dhow sailors in Tanzania...

They have an outrigger that's just a round pole, and they balance on it to provide righting moment. Now that's hardcore!

Much the same as before I left. But now the trailer has a flat tyre.

So the dhow's outriggers are being used like racks then.  i bet they have used this technique for 1000's of years.  Perhaps you could have suggested trapeezes to them and been the pioneer in 21st centry dhow sailing.
