Hooning Day
« on: October 10, 2009, 07:31:44 PM »
Megan and I took 2631 out again this afternoon. We did the Club Championship races at Derwent. It was absolutely gorgeous, warm, sunny, nice F2-3 and sailing an older but still fantastic boat. I've been sailing Cherubs for 19 years now, and I still love it. Anybody else been out this weekend?

Yes, i stared over the top of my computer working at a gorgous autumn day for sailing, cursing the boat on its trailer in the garden.

I love to hear of the older boats sailing too so well done Neil, and nice clip Will, do you know who and where ?

Cherub 698 Wandrous belongs to Lucy's young cousin. In some of the clips it is me sailing with her, and in others it is her dad. It was on the Tamar in Devon.

Awesome news Neil, I'm guessing that now all the sanding and varnishing is now a warm memory for the rest of the winter. Hope we get up North to see you soon?  R+H
PS - We sailed a little this weekend, but I'll bore the rest with a long post elsewhere :-)

Great to see the clips of Wandrous sailing after getting to see her in the barn.

Do you have any pics of 2631 finished?

Out in the Mirror... as most Sundays, had a good race, results not up yet... Luke is really enjoying helming her, and has started talking about getting a foiling Moth! I've got to get my sails over to Blue Marine for new luff rope stuff. And then I'm sure we will be reporting back with similar fun weekends Chair rubbing.

Had a great afternoon giving 2631 some serious caning up and down at Derwent today. Wind was off the north shore so a bit shifty, but some proper heavy duty gusts. We got the conventional kite working properly at last. Remembered why the change over to asymmetrics was such a great idea. The P4 hull shape is remarkably good natured and stable, but nevertheless all that string and waving a nine foot pole round your ears is a right carry on. Definitely got  a winter garage project lined up!
