Andnow for something completely (well fairly) different...
« on: August 15, 2009, 11:34:04 PM »
This is a 1973ish Junior Cherub, which was/is a Cherub with a cut down rig for Kiwi 11-15 year olds...

Cherub Juniors what a cool idea!
old cherub smaller rig Asymetric offcourse.
No more conflicts between ankle biters oppie event and Cherub event. Just send them round the same course as you, job done.

When I was in OZ i saw a class callled a flying ant.  A small single trappeze boat with a small symetrical kite. Probably about the same size as a mirror.  One of them luffed the yacht I was sailing on in the middle of lake Macquarie.  They knew what they were doing.

There isn't currently a small light weight twin trapeeze asymetric skiff for juniors.

Perhaps there is a need for something like this although any class that tries to compete with the mighty RYA junior and youth classes will have a tough battle on their hands.

I know my boy would love one.
Sort of somewhere between a Cadet and Mirror with a trap.
It's unfortunate that the Northern Hem and Southern Hem have quite different paths from each other. I wouldn't mind my lad having the opportunity of sailing a Farr 3.7 either, or for that matter my self.
