Nice wheels...
« on: February 22, 2008, 08:20:27 PM »
I know there are cherubers out there who have some fancy motors and are quite keen on their motoring. Thought it was probably for the best to start a thread on it.

... mainly so I had an excuse to post this link

Some of you may have seen "Chelsea the Tractor" at the odd event...basically I'm not allowed to fit a towbar to my company car so I bought an old Discovery for towing and messing around in (camper conversion going in soon!)  And it runs on Tesco's vegetable oil at 70p/litre!

And in case anyone says "most Landrovers only do the school run" try this... :o

Iain... you're a nutter. Love it!

Not sure I'd want to try that in my little road weapon though!  ::)

Noycey please promise me you'll keep that VI looking standard, that is a proper wolf in sheep's clothing!  Very nice condition too...you must be chuffed with it!

Am I allowed to cheat and post a piccy of my new car which arrives in 8 weeks time?  This one is the SE version and comes with extras not usually found on BMWs like these handy little orange flashing things to let other road users know what you are doing, and an analogue throttle control rather than digital... ;D

I might take offense to that comment Mr Gruitt, but

A) I, and the other car connoisseurs out there know that the Vi isn't JUST a Rover,

and

B) At least I don't have to rely on public transport and skanking lifts from people.

So nerrrr  ;)

I concur!

In a previous life I worked as a finance manager in a Rover dealership (for about, oooo, 3 months) and the Vi was the pool/demo car everyone nearly crashed.  You got in thinking "pipe and slippers" yet it did not say anything on the instructions about the 1.8 litre VVC out of the MGF (posh VVC version) that some sneaky brummie had hidden under the bonnet, yet it had none of the chav-ness of the green BRM version with it's orange grill!

Torque steer and wheelspin city...hooligan material indeed! ;D

So what's all this enthusiasm for road-going Wayfarers? As the saying goes, "your other car may be a Porsche but my bike will piss on that too..."

repeat after me - a car is a thing for towing a boat. For fun get a bike.
One of these years I must get my DS7 out and put her into TD2 spec...

Along the same lines as:

An MX-5 isn't just a girls car.

Iain, I still haven't recovered from that drift around the roundabout by Sainsburys.

Well I have to say Jim that there are a few reasons why I don't have a motorbike, one of them is that I really don't have the self control to drive one sensibly and I would kill myself within a week... and secondly, even at 22 my mum would kill me for getting one. So either way, I wouldn't last long!

Sorry to say Iain but I have 'modified' my car today... I've trimmed the rear bumper to make way for my state of the art downforce creating diffuser, which just so happens to allow me to tow a boat! Fantastic.
