Travels of Born Slippy and Poppy
« on: September 24, 2016, 09:10:55 PM »
Both boats arrived safely in Monaco on a double stacker. Slight scare on route when I hit a drain cover on the motorway, shredded a tyre and the landing sheared two pins off the bearing.

Luckily towsure's new office in Bristol had been on the route And I had a spare bearing in the tool box. Luckier still the French garage I limped into were very friendly (only rudeness was about my terrible French).

Today I left poppy in Monaco and trundled down the coast to St Tropez. Met the friendliest dinghy club in France and can't wait to get out tomorrow.

The channel will be full of "les voiles d St Tropez", so the aim is not to collect a mega yacht in the bowsprit.

I think the plan will be to leave one boat in Monaco and the other "elsewhere" on the coast.

Yesterday we had a very pleasant drifter. Sadly retrieval was made more complicated by 4 ft of condensed drift weed. you can walk on it, but both trolley and us sank when trying to get out. Today Ill just carry bs in...

If anyone reading this finds themselves near Monaco in the comming weeks -

Please drop in. Sunday was the perfect day - F4/5 flat water and about 15o (and the water is warm). I sat on the shore waiting for a crew who never arrived :0(

Today a new Jamie turned up...
... sadly the wind didn't.

Power assisted tacks (i have a paddle) and a drifter. Was lovely.

When we got in someone told politely that we were not allowed more than mile off shore.

Luckily they were not there earlier. The photo shows us before we bore away and went for the 5 mile send :-)
