Back for the second year as a main event.  Will be part of the 'Long distance cup' in 2017

Details http://www.ullswateryachtclub.org/Default.aspx?tabid=227

I advise entering in advance.  Late entries will be accepted on the day at the event reception but will be subject to a £20 late entry fee.

Interested in this event, but wondered what people typically do about camping/b&B(or whatever) it seems like a well attended event, and having not been before have no idea what the facilities and local options are.

Any input would be great
Thanks
Greg

Adapt your diet to eating flys and mosquitos. You will be well fed and will take the battle right back to the little wretches.
Thanks

Hi Greg,
Definitely an event you have to do at least once, absolutely cracking event and a 7 mile run is perfect for cherubs, not so much the rs300 I did it in last time ;) There is a massive field next to the club that is used for camping/motorhomes for the event. Its pretty cheap too, worth checking out Ullswaters Sailing Clubs website for more details.

I love this event, but will need a helm/crew, anyone interested?

PersonallyId say they desrve a win just for manning up and going?

Can we change the rule about having to finish a race to count as being there - especially if we are taking on marathons?

It was pretty damn windy! Saturday only about a third of the fleet finished, and apparently a keelboat or two turtled up the far end of the lake.

Sadly we didn't complete a race, but it was a great weekend: we called it at the corner on Saturday, realising that it was only going to get more windy the further up the lake we got. It was also real shifty in the shadow of the fleet, and overtaking in a lot of breeze was fun, but terrifying when dealing with 30 foot cruisers and the like.

Sunday was a tad lighter, though unfortunately I had food poisoning, so we didn't sail... Banshee had some issues Thursday (trap line breakage leading to tiller extention breakage) but apart from that was in one piece til i got home, at which point I tore the spreaders off the wing mast, which we had some real under-rotation issues with, and couldn't seem to point (but went realllly fast in the wrong direction!)
