Hi, is anyone thinking of going this weekend and is in need of a crew?

Thanks, Abi.

Hi
A man by the name of William Lockett is hopefully looking to buy cheese and is intending on popping down to Sheppey this weekend to meet the fleet. He'd love to have a look around at the boats and if possible even go for a ride! Unfortunately I'm currently struggling to get Cheese down there from Draycote so if anybody could help him out and take him for a ride that would be much appreciated! Great guy, keen, an ideal Cheruber!  :D

Ro are you bringing Born Slippy? Maybe Abi and William could join forces?

All the forecasts I have looked at are putting Saturday 20 to 25 mph and Sunday 15 to 20. That said earlier in the week they were saying lots less. Good sites are XC Weather for forecasts and iossc for live weather, in my experience wind guru tends to forecast on the high side.

Went looking for racing results on the IOSSC website this evening. Nothing posted up, but this from the sailing club webcam an hour or so ago is very nice! Numbers say it's very windy though.....

Congratulations to Jamie and Rosie on their first open meeting win. Saturday was around 25 mph north easterly, only 5 505's launched in the cherub manner just took a few more people to lift them in. Only Eleanor braved the wind and after steaming off upwind struggled to bear away in really lumpy conditions.
Today was the polar opposite with really light breeze and only one race, the wind died completely after shiny had finished leaving the rest to struggle to make enough way to match the tide.
Saturday night was a brilliant social with team Cherub coming 2nd in the quiz, and wining the top prize in the raffle.

Nice and flat chaps but i think the weather justified our decision not to attend, hard as though it was.  We actually sailed Sunday - the RS200 at Wembley open and despite being only 50 miles of so from you we actually had enough wind to plane albeit only twice and completed the 3 planned races - the wind was generally light but gusty

sorry for not turning up, mixture of bad forecast and work on Saturday put us off. Had a nice shakedown sail at HISC in a dying wind on Sunday though and it was good to know the muscle memory is still sort of there after the winter.

Cherubs and 505's is an interesting combination. The PY's aren't too far apart, but obviously the nature of the boats is entirely different. Anybody care to say how the 505's went in comparison to the Cherubs? I'd hazard a guess that they were faster uphill and the opposite downhill, but interested to hear if anyone has any observations.

shinys speedpuck says she went upwind with a speed of 5-9 knots.
took about 20 minuets to get to the top mark, only a few (3?) 505's got past us.

downwind we were going about 5-7 knots (the wind was dying) rounded the bottomw mark not loosing a place to the 50's then lost 3-4 places going upwind again.

Thanks
Jamie

The 505's were faster uphill, however without enough breeze to get on the wire it was clear the extra hull length of the 505's was beneficial. As both classes have expressed a wish to do this again next year maybe we will get some good weather to test this.
