newbie looking for a first cherub
« on: August 07, 2014, 05:28:52 PM »
Hi looking to start in the class. 420's are slow and can't modify and race them.  ;) I'm looking for a boat on a budget. Don't mind doing work on it. Prefer a fibreglass or carbon Hull. Must be an assymmetric. I'm hoping to come down to the nationals to introduce myself

Thanks in advance

Mike

Hi Mike,
It would be good to see you at the nationals. You would get to see all the boats currently being raced, and meet the class members. We pride ourselves on being very friendly, so bring your kit we may even manage to get you a sail ( depending on racing ).
I'm sure a few others will be along shortly to encourage your ideas.
You will find a Cherub very different from a 420 but I guarantee you will enjoy it.
Where do you sail currently?

I'll make sure I'm down there with my kit, I've had a look around a blue cherub at Brightlingsea, which looked really cool. I currently sail at Burghfield but will be sailing in Swansea due to uni.

That would be Riot Van sailed by Graham and Eddie, and that boat is pretty cool. One of the great things about Cherubs is that even the older boats were made of carbon, so they don't tend to go soft as glass boats will. This means you can get a huge amount of fun whatever your budget.
It will be good to see you at the nationals. I crew Eleanor so come and say hello, we will be getting there on Saturday morning.

Hi Mike,

Someone from Burgfield posted a video of a Cherub we all admired a couple of years ago...there was a plan to contact then and invite them to Nats, not sure what happened.

See you at Weston, come and say hello

Do you know what the cherub at burghfield was called, or who they were? I'll do some digging around the boat park next time i'm at the club. Would make me definitely get one if I had someone to directly race at the club.

The owner of Argument Clinic (ex-Therapy) is on this forum as Dave_Fudge. You could send him a PM.

I'm officially confused, am I not looking for a first cherub? Or is Dave Fudge not the owner of Argument Clinic (formerly therapy)?

Sorry...too young for Monty Python? As in...'...is this a 10 minute argument or a full half hour?...'
