RYA Dinghy Show 2014
« on: February 21, 2014, 09:46:27 AM »
What: RYA Dinghy Show
Where: Alexandra Palace stand C48
When: 1-2 March

The Cherub class is showing off an E7 in the form of Cool Beans. It has been in for a bit of TLC from Sam Pascoe and will have a shiny new suit of sails from P&B. Come to the show to have a chat and find out from real cherub sailors what it's all about.

We are still in need of some helpers on the stand so if any cherub sailors are at a loose end that weekend and would like to come help sell our class to other sailors please get in touch with BenR.

Thanks to all those who popped by the stand and said hello.

Now's the time to take us up on the offer and come for a sail ;-)

All that caught my eye apart from Cool Beans was a little 85kg all up weight trainer 2 person skiff prototype. Designed for crew weights around 85kg the prototype was in wood but I guess if production happens it would be foam sandwich.

It was like a small 97 Rules Cherub, great for early teens(?) not yet ready for a 29er or a Cherub.

The guy who made Cool Beans' new sails was an Enterprise sailor and knew a few of my old Southport Sailing Club Ent buddies from the 70s. Alan Johnson is still racing Ents and still doing well. There was a short period when myself and a mate called Andy Kissick were SSC's 24hr race very light weather secret weapon.

Nigel, I believe the boat you are referring to is a boat which Derek Clark has been developing, which is a development of the aussie Flying Ant. As you say, a very cool boat for the nippers!

It was on the Seasure stand...yes, think the Ant with bigger sails (taller mast) and an asymmetric. I think if I had a toddler I'd be ordering mine now

I could see a few of these buzzing around the Cherub fleet in the future, given the current baby boom
