If you have missed the internal weave/biax layer then there is onlt an outer layer of hoop fibres. This makes the cut the boom longitudinally option a reasonable one becuase the cut will mostly be along the length of the unis.
It has to go back to gether neatly over the new internal layer of weave and would only need strips of weave adding along the cuts on the outside probably best done in a second hit. The key thing is to ensure that the inner layer is stuck to the inside surface of the boom halves without voids.
