So the dent I put in A+E didn't slow them down then?

Sorry Clive...for the dent, not for 'not slowing you down.'

Congrats

Well a 9th at QM seems to have still secured us the travellers this year. A small consolation for a disappointing weekend. It was great to see everyone despite our issues, look forward to showing our faces at Draycote in November.

We had a bit of a mare when the prize giving had to be halted, a jury convened and after Mr Croote refused to accept 1st place (after Clive had magnanimously taken 2nd) .

The results all through the fleet look a little suspect. For the travelers positions the real embarrassment is at the bottom. QMSC show DNC for all races for Cheese and Loco. Cheese may have DNF'ed the first by missing the gate (but was sailing all 3) and Loco was involved in at least 1 start line incident. We will need a bit of a discussion to work out what we do with the travelers results

(I am conflicted on this)

Yes I had a quick look at the results last night and they have us down incorrectly in Race 1 - we were definately 3rd, however I don't think it affects anything so not bothered unless anyone else is.

We did 3 RS200 races at an extremely challenging Wembley (3knts one minute, 30 knts the next).  We even got blown over upwind!  A rather spectacular wipe out whilst leading (going for a gybe in a huge gust - it was either that or suddenly grow wheels) put paid to winning and we finished 3rd, 1 point of first.  Still we got some nice rooster gear and £80 worth of vouchers so worth the short trip.

Results do look suspect.

Loco started late first race and finished last. For some reason the RO decided to start the B14s before (to be accurate, as) we were finishing and then ran the second Cherub start as we were (deliberately and pointedly) capsized adjacent to the committee boat sorting out rigging. I was pretty gobsmacked to see Cherubs massing for thE start as we were righting Loco and a big gust caught the jib, Loco  bore away and took off and we hit Clive because there was nowhere to go. We started the second race but retired because Sam was exhausted from kite hoist problems. We were DNS third race and I had to return to Birmingham Saturday night.

Paul Croote is a gentleman and this is the best class on the planet.

I'll have to arm wrestle Andy as well, because I'm pretty sure we were 3rd on the first race ! Actually Eddie vs Jill might be more fun.

Its a good job I am not El-Pres anymore, because this is starting to get my goat. Far too often we're treated like 2nd class racers without proper attention to whats going on - no such mistake was made with the B14's, nor would it be imho. I also notice that the B14's had their top speeds proudly hailed with their results, noone bothered with ours we had to go and ask afterwards. It would be easy for me to assume that they thought we'd clearly be slower and less impressive.

Clive got his speed, cant remember how it compared to the top B14 speed,  he'll tell us - I'd like to think we trumped them all but our tracker didnt even f-ing work which has peed me off as I was looking forward to the results.

Rant, me ?

That's not a rant, this is a rant...

Actually, no. It was just a poor show from qmsc, they clearly don't get Cherubs but that is their issue not ours. Cherubs have big enough hearts to get on with being cool whatever others think.

Iconic shot of RV foiling  :)

Last year they told me off for apparently finishing a race twice even though i hadn't.  They later admitted that they had me confused with another boat.

What could be an easier fleet to manage?  We have different coloured hulls and short sail no.s and a relatively small fleet.  I could understand 100 lasers being a little more taxing to manage.

I certainly suggest an article to yachts and yachting and point them to that photo.  Could be a cover shot.  great publicity!

I sailed our club enterprise open on Sunday and capsized twice during the racing.  The peak gust after the first race was 43 knots.  I think 1 boat remained upright.  Lots of near spills and spray everywhere on the reaches.  Luckily for me we go 3 firsts taking the event win and the regional series win aswell.

Had the exciting moment on a planing reach when the rudder pin broke rudder popped up and I had to fit a spare.

Have to be quick, another year and Eddie will be too big even for Jill.  We could of course check the trackers.....except ours didn't work either.

Nick,

I'll do a shortish write up for Saturday later this evening -  I wasn't there on Sunday, perhaps Clive could add a para on that.

I've asked Alex for a couple of photos to accompany the report, including the iconic one of RV foiling round the mark
