I could be wrong having not seen the recent E7 and Everest 1 but think that there isn't much difference in performance of the recent hull shapes. Some of the newer developements appear to be more focussed on reducing aero and Hydrodynamic drag.
Examples are rounded gunnels, smaller diameter masts, partial foredecks, smaller cord and area foils and probably more.
This follows the same path of developement that the 18 footers followed in the 1990's and is documented in Frank Bethwaits 'Higher performance Sailing'.
As an observation this is good for the class because the bigger performance benifits have been taken advantage of which means that the pace on improvement is slowing and the older 05 rules boats will not fall behind as quickly as they may have done 5 years ago.
More competitive boats means bigger race attendances and better racing.
