Where - Bala Sailing Club

When - Saturday 25th to Monday 27th August 2012

What - 7 races over 3 days, 1st Start 1:00pm Saturday, Prize giving 2pm Monday

Just in case you haven't had enough fun at the Nationals this looks a good option on the way home, plus you can wash all that nasty salt off

We are thinking of doing it as we are in the area, any other takers ?

Tempting Paul but I think I might need a little lie down by then...

Then again if several of us were going and the weather was good...

Sam will have had 3 weeks' sailing and will probably want to chill.

I might be tempted by crewing for someone I guess...I miss kite handling and I'm very good at it.

Sorry, we'll be leaving Wales by the nearest available exit.

What about round Britain in a cherub.  It should only take 8 days at 7 knots average. Possibly quicker at getting from Wales than using 'the' road.

We're heading straight down to Machynlleth to go mountain biking for the bank holiday weekend.

You will be assured of a good sail though as Bala is great if you get the wind down the lake.

Last time we sailed at Bala was the Easter Regatta sometime in the mid 90's. We were in Cherub 2534, joined by Cheese Before Bedtime and Strangely Brown - both quite new at the time. It poured cold rain and blew a gale for the first 2 days. On the morning of the 3rd day we woke up to find that the blow-up camp beds were afloat in the tent. The ground outside had gone completely white and it was snowing hard. We binned sailing for the day and decided to enjoy the excellent hospitality of the club instead. Several coffees, a couple of bacon butties and a skinful of Wrexham lager and all was well.
