Ronin is going, we will be going by ferry. I was planning on getting the 7:30pm crossing on Friday night, and the 5:30pm crossing on Sunday. Been quoted £126 inc trailer, on a car / caravan deal.

Happy to take some kit across for the hardy sailors.

Not sure about sailing across but I am coming with Atum...Sam is being non committal at the moment so I guess I will find out nearer the time whether I am sailing with a crew or not. It would be great if we can get onto a double stacker to share the cost of the ferry otherwise at 100 quid we might be sailing towing a sailboard covered in dry bags :)

Stu has kindly agreed to sail with me in Atum. We will be sailing across on Friday afternoon/evening. It would be great if we can put a bag/box in someone's car. Where are people thinking of sailing across from? Stokes? Lee?

Can't wait for this! I think it's going to be the event of year.

UPDATE FROM RVYC

Accomodation is available by camping next to the club. Please note the use of this land is by the kind permission of adjacent home owner ("Uncle Bob"), he is currently on holiday but his neice has granted us permission to camp. Team Evo will arrnage a small collection for for a bottle...

Saturday night there is a Regatta buffet. This will be followed by a "Shipwrecked" themed fancy dress video-disco (answers on a postcard). Fancy dress is described as "optional".

I am not sure I want to know the answer to this; but what in gods name is a "video-disco" ?

I might have mis-heard. But honestly have absolutely no idea. Either way the balcony, a bottle of prot and some shivering timbers calls.

Nothing like as exciting as it might have  been. Sort of does what it says on the tin

Reluctantly, looking at the forecast I think we should consider an alternative plan for the weekend or whatever part of it is sailable. As far as I know noone yet has booked a ferry (the expensive bit) so lets have a think and be sensible before we go that far and start implementing logistics.

Windguru is showing up to 30kts for Friday, which I would suggest is unsafe to sail over without cover, and up to 40kts for Saturday, with Sunday looking like a possibility at around 20kts.

I think it would be sensible to think about an alternative plan to sail somewhere else, before we spend on ferries and start travelling around at silly'o clock. Maybe take Subtle and Atums offer of being guests at Hayling, if only for Sunday ?

Lets at least keep an eye on the forecast, make a plan B and be sensible. Thoughts from those planning to go please ....

Pretty sure that we will be at Netley on Sunday and can do some signing in if people wanted to join us there. The calendar says that there are 2 races starting at 11, normally one race with a gap long enough to grab some lunch. We will be in Devon for Kates sisters birthday on Saturday and will be driving back straight to the sailing club on Sunday morning if we don't drive back on Saturday evening.
