In a strange turn of events Monkey now appears to be attending. Time to make up on the very little time I have had sailing her.

Loads of floor space available for those who have asked for it and plenty more if others want to join in the fun. Happy for people to stay Friday night as well if it makes travel easier.

No problem Ben.

And btw there's water in Chew.  So at least it hasn't been raining here for nothing  :)

It's looking increasingly unlikely that Eleanor will be ready for this as she is still residing in the I o W . Then there's just the small matter of refitting her again.
However I may just come along to say hello and maybe grab a sneaky sail if someone wants a not so supercrew.
Piers I will gladly collect and bring the Y foil along if you buy it.

You'd be really welcome Si. Shame Eleanor may not be ready, but there's somewhere for you to stay if you want it.

On a happy note, we went for a short (cold) blast around Chew yesterday and the water level is looking good.

Hi,

My name is Nigel and I raced a Cherub a little in the 70s, mainly east coast (Burnham on Crouch).  My previous boat was 2345 'Tachyon' - a Forman 6 which Chris Forman raced in the worlds (NZ?) I believe.  Sadly, there is no trace of Tachyon.

Have continued sailing but in other classes while the kids were young.  Both daughters now grown up.

My youngest is now 15 (Sam) and we have sailed a Topaz Tres for a few years but I think he could handle crewing a 97 rules Cherub now so. . .

. . . thinking of coming to meet people 18/19th Feb (Birmingham based and members of Bartley SC).  Sam seems quite keen on sailing - it's the only thing which gets his heart thumping apart from an Xbox.

If he gets keen I'd like to do a few meetings and consider the nationals (just for the fun). . . we always said we'd get a Cherub again before I got too old.
Previously 2685 'Loco Perro' and 2345 'Tachyon'

Damn good boat that one. I knew her well when Gary Bellamy had her - before you I suspect. But yes, haven't heard of her in the last 25 years.

Nice one Nigel, I was in the same position about 4 years ago with a 10 year old son, I too had cherubs as a youngster, we have never looked back (I'll let you read the reports to see how we have done). Please come down to Chew, we'll fix you u with a sail if you want one, or help you find what you are looking for.

Thanks guys. . . would love to get Sam at least out in a Cherub.  My thinking is to bring the Tres, depending on the weather and might enter just to get out on the water.

Tachyon was (is?) a brilliant boat - best (most fun) boat I have ever sailed.  Knocked spots off everything from 505 to Enterprise.  International Moth was the only other boat which got close. . . and I think that's still the case short of a 49er/Int 14.

2005 rules boats look awesome and might have overcome the relative dip in performance in light weather when compared to the bigger boats. . . or maybe size matters.
