All the 2016 calendar is now completely finalised as follows:

Traveller Series

April 2/3 - Rutland (confirmed)

April 16/17 - Isle of Sheppy (confirmed)

May 29/30  - QMSC open  (confirmed)  note this is Sunday and Monday!  Blasting available Saturday for those who require a real Cherub fest

July 2/3 Lord Birkett Trophy Ullswater.  Both races to count - Cherub results extracted on a race by race basis

July 9/10 - Weymouth Regatta (confirmed - and looking likely we will be inside the harbour)

October 8/9 - Inlands QMSC (confirmed)

4 out of 6 to count.  Last year the inlands were non discardable.  Are people happy for the same this year?

Additional events

2016 Nationals - will be part of Torbay Regatta in mid -August 20-23rd with a non counting pursuit race on the 24th.  Launching from Torquay Harbour

September Blast - possible Draycote

Plans are already in hand for next year including a visit to Poole YC and a 'Long Distance Cup'

Hi Andy,
Whats peoples views on Weston? Any chance of sharing a meet with B14s and Int 14s as I thought Weston, socially, was epic last year. Also returning to Mumbles as great open venue... I am sure they would like to see us!
...just to add the pot...

Weston have vastly cut down their opens in 2016 - no I14 or such meeting for us to join.  :(

I can approach Mumbles to see if they would run us an open in June, we could do with one more in the calendar.  Other suggestions (or volunteers) of a venue welcome.

How about Netley Tim has just rejoined.
Great camping etc.
I am sure that we would be happy to have an extra start in their regular club start sequence.

Thanks all.  At the moment the state of play is:

Dave C is double checking with Poole YC
Jamie is seeing if Draycote can help us out

Failing that I did get us accepted for the East Coast Piers race as a class - but unfortunately their released date for 2016 clashes with Weymouth.  One I hope for 2017.  In place of that I'm suggesting our left field event is the same as last year - we return to the Lord Birkett in Ullswater.  Agreed?

Andy - regarding Sidmouth my only concern it is a long way for most people for a weekend.  What do people think?

An alternative is I'm sure I could arrange a meeting at QMSC for the late May BH on the Sunday and Monday.  Sunday 3 W/L races (2 to count) and Monday one longer non discardable pursuit race.  Saturday available for blasting.  However that will mean 2 visits to QM in 2016 - though in my humble opinion an excellent inland venue for Cherubs.

If Tim could arrange some sort of 2 day event in May/June at Netley that would be great.

So we have a number of irons in the fire - watch this space.

Any interest in  (guessing too near to Weymouth)
Cowes Dinghy Week - Gurnard - 23rd – 27th July

I'm thinking of doing the weekend based entirely on the food from 2014

Think draycote is a no for a post dinghy show blast, only weekends they can do are the week after the show, or the weekend rutland open is on.

Is it worth asking if they have availability in May? As we don't currently have an event then, the weather is better for newbies and you may get more cherubs turn up. I appreciate that we would have to take email addresses at the show and follow up, to keep interest up and keep people informed.

Paul,

Thanks for the suggestion but I think we are sorted for this year now.  However if you have an 'in' at Stone and could get us a 2 day open (or even a Nationals?) there in 2017 that would be fantastic.

Regards,

Andy

I second that Andy, an open/ or nationals there next year would be great.
