2015 Summer holiday
« on: October 01, 2014, 07:51:31 PM »
Would anyone be up for a trip to Lake Garda next summer (2015) for some sunny sailing fun?
Another idea is to go to San Francisco if anyone would be keen.
What does everyone think?

When speaking with Andy and Jill they said that the RS fleet would be going in 2016 so I would aim for that as I've already had to book next years holiday dates at work. Also there would likely be other Cherubs

Well I think a few of us are planning to run the trip next year but I think the main trip is running 2016. Anyone keen for 2015 is more than welcome to come.

FYI some figures from the 2014 trip.

Bristol to Riva with 1 bike, 2 boats, 4 tents and 4 people return cost £853.64 (fuel and tolls).
Including accommodation (campsite) and ferries this worked out at £350 a head for a week.
Sailing 2 boats from Riva cost £80 for the week's launching fees
Driving time was 24 hrs door to door each way.

That is travelling the "expensive" way through France. The the total cost for the car and tolls, including £141 to insure 2 young drivers. However, it does exclude the world's best Burger King (somewhere in France).

**Note first post missed the ferry and camping cost ***

Our costs were almost the inverse of Rolands.

Eurotunnel - paid for on Tesco vouchers
Fuel - approx 350 euros (200/cherub double stack)
Tolls - Brenner pass, can't remember exactly say 40 euro
Travel time - a leisurely 2 days each way (could add in 50 euro for a stop at Luxembourg Ibis Budget)

Accom
Self catering flat - 705 euro for the week.  Launching 40 euro (includes free parking right in town by the SC)

We will be returning in 2016.
