I re-set the battens on the '05 mainsail this weekend...I wasn't pointing well and the sail was too difficult to 'pop' when tacking.
I loosened all the battens, then re-set them simply to remove all the wrinkles.
The top 2 battens needed very little tension, the lower ones a lot more.
When sailing the sail now pops well and the head certainly doesn't hook to windward, indeed it 'releases' easily and would de-power in puffs well - something I think I can control with the kicker.
I did it all by feel but the effect on pointing and speed seems to have been quite considerable.
