Lots of Cherub carbon bits for sale...
« on: June 20, 2011, 08:55:54 PM »
Hello ex Cheruby friends,

Good to see the class going from strength to strength, I've not been on the site for ages and there seems to be lots happening...and there are some very nice shiny boats about now!  60th Nationals looks good, I will try and pop down.

Unfortunatly for me it's time to admit that due to time, other sailing commitments, a few too many pies/pints, and having been spoiled with jolly big spinnakers for a few years in other classes, my Cherub sailing days and build project are over.  In fact, I'm really enjoying 49er sailing at the moment (not), I've had the boat about 3 weeks and so far I've managed to break both a mast and a boom.  Hmmmm, Suicide Blonde never did that!

So that leaves me with a particularly nice pile of some of C-Tech’s gorgeous carbon fibre that was supposed to go on Hardly Sluggish but is now surplus to requirements and needs to be sold.  This lot was imported from NZ a couple of years ago, put into dry storage and not touched since.  The design was for a racked Cherub, with I14 style combined aft wing tubes and rudder gantry, tubular spaceframe in the bow, and a temple vang...the pics are on Thunderbird 4's boat page.

If you are building a racked Cherub soon, this lot will cut months off the build time, look great, and be of much better quality than anything home built.  The theory was with all of this lot ready done, the hull build itself was going to be a very simple job, and the whole boat could then come together very quickly indeed.  All the tubing is spot on for it’s exact intended purpose, and specifications were drawn up by cherub guru Simon Roberts and C-Tech’s Alex Vallings.  Get Mike or Andy to knock you up a bare hull and you could be on the water this year.
The daggerboard and sleeve are things of exquisite beauty, and being up to 12’ Skiff spec, are very, very unlikely to fail.

Specs as follows:
Main rack tubes 2500 long1.8 wall58 ID
Kingpost1000 long1.8 wall75 ID,
Lower forward beams (oval)1200 long1.8 wall60x30 oval
Forward compression struts1000 long1.8 wall28.58 ID
Forward support2000 long1.5 wall16 ID
 Aft beams1500 long1.8 wall60x30 oval

Boom2300 long  90x60 oval section
Daggerboard1300 long330 chord32 thick
Daggerboard sleeve300 long32 id thick
Prod2250 long55mm od
Temple vang comp strut570 long45 od
Temple vang tens strut650 long18 od

This lot cost about £1600 to get imported and that’s a few years ago… I’ll accept £950.
I also have every fitting, brand new Harken, for the boat, will list separately but if you need anything in the meantime drop me a line, will be well below UK retail prices.  I may have a C-Tech mast and a new RS800 kite but I think they might have been sold already…
Midlands based but can deliver South Coast.

Hello again, and good to catch up with peeps at LOSSC the other week.

I am now open to offers on this lot...go on, give me a try.  I really need it gone ASAP and I need to fund some new yot sails before the boat show offer price runs out!
