I know there are cherubers out there who have some fancy motors and are quite keen on their motoring. Thought it was probably for the best to start a thread on it.
... mainly so I had an excuse to post this link

fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffp
Herbal tea all over keyboard moment.
You've made my evening like.

Some of you may have seen "Chelsea the Tractor" at the odd event...basically I'm not allowed to fit a towbar to my company car so I bought an old Discovery for towing and messing around in (camper conversion going in soon!) And it runs on Tesco's vegetable oil at 70p/litre!
And in case anyone says "most Landrovers only do the school run" try this... :o

Iain... you're a nutter. Love it!
Not sure I'd want to try that in my little road weapon though! ::)
-
Some of my little motor....Will post some new ones soon, it goes into my garage for lowering on wednesday.
-
Noycey please promise me you'll keep that VI looking standard, that is a proper wolf in sheep's clothing! Very nice condition too...you must be chuffed with it!
Am I allowed to cheat and post a piccy of my new car which arrives in 8 weeks time? This one is the SE version and comes with extras not usually found on BMWs like these handy little orange flashing things to let other road users know what you are doing, and an analogue throttle control rather than digital... ;D

Haha, makes me laugh everytime!! Nice Rover u have there old man!
-
I might take offense to that comment Mr Gruitt, but
A) I, and the other car connoisseurs out there know that the Vi isn't JUST a Rover,
and
B) At least I don't have to rely on public transport and skanking lifts from people.
So nerrrr ;)
-
I concur!
In a previous life I worked as a finance manager in a Rover dealership (for about, oooo, 3 months) and the Vi was the pool/demo car everyone nearly crashed. You got in thinking "pipe and slippers" yet it did not say anything on the instructions about the 1.8 litre VVC out of the MGF (posh VVC version) that some sneaky brummie had hidden under the bonnet, yet it had none of the chav-ness of the green BRM version with it's orange grill!
Torque steer and wheelspin city...hooligan material indeed! ;D
-
So what's all this enthusiasm for road-going Wayfarers? As the saying goes, "your other car may be a Porsche but my bike will piss on that too..."
repeat after me - a car is a thing for towing a boat. For fun get a bike.
One of these years I must get my DS7 out and put her into TD2 spec...
-

Along the same lines as:
An MX-5 isn't just a girls car.
Iain, I still haven't recovered from that drift around the roundabout by Sainsburys.
-
I fear that my first "car" will be van that run on vegetable oil. Sofa's in the back, small lighting rig, PA system. Say hello to the MRU- Mobile Rave Unit. ;D It shall also be used for a verity of extra curricular activates.
-
Ross obviously didnt meet my polo then... ridiculous sound system, and of course.... a beer fridge tucked neatly into the boot install!

Well I have to say Jim that there are a few reasons why I don't have a motorbike, one of them is that I really don't have the self control to drive one sensibly and I would kill myself within a week... and secondly, even at 22 my mum would kill me for getting one. So either way, I wouldn't last long!
Sorry to say Iain but I have 'modified' my car today... I've trimmed the rear bumper to make way for my state of the art downforce creating diffuser, which just so happens to allow me to tow a boat! Fantastic.
-
Ah, you mean an understeer compensating counterweight, perfect at inducing lift-off oversteer in the same stylee as a 911 or MR2?
AKA a towbar??? ;D

Indeed, I am a car connoisseur also, but the decision, Rover or walk. hmmmmm Rover or walk. Keeps me fit, I will walk.

Tim
That Fiat looks like fun but saddly even our old tank will beat it in a boat towing contest and road trips to France would be a little cramped. Though it is true a trip to scotland it may win as it could get up and back four times before we get there.
Iain
It is still a Chelsea tractor its just the roads have some bad potholes near you.
Looked great though.
Ross
Good to see you are going for the passion wagon look. It should match your 70's theme well.
Now I have offended everyone I'd just like to say our old tank got through its MOT for the grand cost of £60 including MOT cost.
I think they felt sorry for us.
-
Aslong long as; I can put a sofa bed in it, run it on vegatable oil, it has a tow bar and it costs under £500 I will be happy...teenager.
-
mate just sent me this http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3105304 (http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3105304)
pretty mental stuff as the guy survived and only had minor wounds! Thats a good a reason as any to buy an RS6 surely? Look how safe it is! ::)

Roads are even worse in Derbyshire...found this little beauty over Easter. And yep, it is a road...you need to be taxed, insured and MOTd to drive it...

-
Iain, you are really a full-time mentalist!
-
Must be a different bit of Derbyshire to me, the roads are a little better than that for my daily commute!
-
Ian. I'm guessing you fitted a sump guard with the snorkel?
Now imagine doing that on a similar road, 100 miles form the neareest doctor with the knowledge that if you needed him you had to drive to the hospital to get treatment. Add 500m drop on 1 side of the road, a 3' to a 1ft deep flow of mud down the road and the heaviest rain you have ever seen. This is roughtly where H & I found ourselves at 5pm during our holiday in Malawi. To complicate things the Pajero had under 0.5mm of tread, no guards and we had 6 people on board after our buddy broke a prop shaft in a bog and donated the broken vehicle to the school that owned the field we had detoured through.
It gets dark at 6pm and 9pm is effectively midnight (they wake up witht he sun at 5am). At 7pm we found a "hard point" to leave the car on and walked 4km to the nearest village and amazingly found a lodge. We were the first "Muzungo" tenants the landlord had had and we shared our bed with a good number of insects. Apparently the road had been closed a day earlier (1 day after we checked with the local aid agency on the road conditions) - a road block at the bottom should have told us, but instead opened a gate and waved us through...
Excellent fun although a bit edgy at times. Lovely locals people who taught us their local words used in everyday offroading "pushy pushy", "Fire fire" and "dig more stuck less".
Most of the pictures will arrive soon, but have some snaps on my phone of the following day.
-
Roland that's pretty cool and I admire your "cojonnes"...if I'd lashed that, the worst case scenario would be a few phone calls or a CB call and we'd have been out of it. I'd love to do a proper overland expedition one day, just an amazing way to see the world.
Re modifications it is a little "tweaked"...plus 2" lift kit all round, extended gas shockers, front valance removed, front steering guard, 265/75 MT tyres with a slight trim of the rear arches so they fit, front recovery points, rear anti-roll bar in the scrap pile (must remove the front one day), snorkel and a CB, and additional driving lights mounted on the A bar. I probably won't bother with a winch as I've never needed to use one...it just adds weight, and reduces ride height!
-
Iain, you are really a full-time mentalist!
Iain, I would seriously chuffed if someone labeled me that!

I definitely wont loose it in Sainsburys car park.
;D
-
But you might in Asda's
-
:D
-
Ross you will be driving around in a pea !
-
its certainly a stunning motor ross
-
Well if i can find one ( am scouring the Web and classifieds ) i think i will have the ultimate drivers/sailors car 240bhp 60 in under 7s and 4wd most come with a towbar all come with a huge boot( big enough to sleep in), what more could you ask for? A Car that recently Jeramy Clarkson moved into the supercool section on the cool wall (******* all the prices have gone up a bit now)
-
Is that a Hummer? (did you hear the news that exactly one new Hummer was sold in the UK in the last quarter of last year - good business model!)
-
Appart from zero hummers you can't reaaly sell less than one unless they come in kit form.
-

Ahh, this would be the 1.3 Micra. It's picture is to be found in the DB9 fridge which is why can't see it on the cool wall itself.
-
In green ;D
-
It the way forward Simon. If progress was a colour, it would be green. Gods favorate colour is green as is Vishnus'...
-
although i do believe both god and vishnu did go for a more british raceing green rather than day glo pea

Thanks for letting us know what they think, but don't you think your communication channel with these two might be slightly better used?
-
Ross I can't really take the p?@s .As my car is also green. Well done for getting mobile , I hope we see you and your new machines at whitstable when things warm up a bit?
-
I'll definitely pop down to Whitstable at some point, but Grafham is the plan. Much closer and easier to get to. ‘
To the Peamobile Batman!’
-
I'll take any opportunity to post a poncy pic of my car.

(Hi all, I only just dug out my login details for the forum - though i've been lurking on the forum since it went live. Hello to all that I met at the 2007 Nats. :) )

"THIS IS THE VOICE OF THE MYSTERONS"
-
What a badly designed car!
Where is the room to sleep?
No roof rack and how much carbon and reason can you put in it?
Now if that was an estate maybe raise the height to allow for better towing height and getting over speed bumps at most clubs.
-
....how much carbon and reason can you put in it?
Well some carbon might squeeze in but its best to give up hope of there being any reason in there at all.
-
I would give you my kingdom of dirt for a spell checker.
-
Now I've actually got i car i can be proud off i thought i'd post a few pics!

-
niiiiiiiiiiice ;D
I don't envy your fuel bill though!
-
Was that shot taken in the 'VolvosЯus' carpark?
-
Gold defo comes a close second to 'metallic apple green'. My mum used to have a Volvo, a VERY Cheruby car.
-
One I restored earlier...
-
Triumph Herald. What a classic.
When I finally get round to getting a property with a garage I am going to get either a Hillman Imp or maybe something like my mates car....
It's the cherub equivalent of the motoring world!
-
Big fan of the Hillman.
And if you want a Caterham, when you are ready I have a mate that is an authority on the subject. Remember 'the stig' on Top Gear diving the most recent nutty Caterham? Well he had the version before that one with Carbon everything. A total nutter!
Here's something else automotive that I've owned that is Cheruby...
Wish I still had it...
-
That car i posted is actually a Caterham replica, it's a Tiger Avon with a tuned 2 litre zetec lump. 180 bhp in a car that weighs a little over 500kg is a brown pant experience... especially in the winter with semi slicks!
A bike engined Hillman Imp would most certainly be the dogs danglies though!
-

Cappuccino!
I fancy one of those too!
Or an Autozam AZ-1, which is a similar K type car.
-
I thought I would join in this theme , just to learn how to post a picture.
-
Well that worked o.k. so here's another.
-
As you can see , I'm not going to win the most practical car award. I did think about putting one of the kids on ebay to solve seating dillema.
-
Great to see another left hand drive, driver...
my current one is just as impractical!
-
Was that shot taken in the 'VolvosЯus' carpark?
Said quickley, that sounds like Volvo's arse.
-
Imps are cool!
Difficult to find one that isn't rust though
-
Imps are cool!
As I remember if you roof rack a Forman 4 Cherub on a Hillman Imp it overhangs the car in all 4 directions... Got to Norfolk and back all right from Surrey though!
-
Sounds like a good plan.
No more worrying about all those silly things like windscreen wipers not working.
