Title: GPS tracking - on the cheap
Post by: roland_trim on April 20, 2010, 06:24:36 PM
If you have a phone you are no-longer using that has GPS on it then check to see if it is compatible with ww.mapmytracks.com.
If yes, then a pay as you go sim card*, a charger and a condom give you a very handy GPS tracker :-)

Also a handy way to summon the coastguard.(* £10 from Virgin gives data at 30p a day)

Well  i have decided to go for a not so cheap option...

I have gone for a timex Global trainer GPS watch.  Link below.

We will see how it holds up this weekend at Rutland.  I have also got the HRM so will be interesting to see heart rate flux.

What do everyone else use.  and what sort of max speeds have you all been getting.

cheers.

Map My Tracks is a Whitstable company!

I am on it (Antidote), but watch out is also has dinghy cruising trips on it!
