Title: Draycote 20th 21st March
Post by: fotoboat midlands on March 14, 2010, 07:17:04 PM
Hi all

Please could you help, I have arranged with someone called Matthew to attend the training weekend 20th 21st March however I have had no reply.   The email which I sent to Matthew is shown below,  it is important that organisors of the event and importantly Draycote SC safety are aware of the situation.  Just to make sailors and the association aware this is at no cost my attendance is free of charge it is hoped the weekend will provide an excellent opportunity to promote the class and provide some good images for all concerned without any problems associated with intrusion on normal racing.

Thanks
Mike Shaw

Hi Matthew

Ok this is the deal, I will guarantee to attend if the conditions are right basically I can`t afford just to travel to Draycote SC for the sake of it and consequently I won`t be attending if the images are going to be poor due to the prevailing weather conditions.

I can`t say which day I will be attending that could depend entirely on the weather forecast I will make the call just before the weekend and let you know, (I will ring you up before setting off) what I would like you to do is arrange a lift in a suitable boat  (If the conditions are correct it will need to be something quick !!!) please could you consider a little research regarding who will be driving, it will need to be somebody with a bit of bottle and they will need to be aware of the situation beforehand.

I can`t stress the importance of the correct type of boat and somebody who is aware of whats going on before I step into the boat, please don`t just leave it until the day I attend.

If you could mention to your sailors that fotoboat will be attending that would be great, please could you reply with your telephone number.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your offer, I have spoken to Matt and had agreed it sounded like a great idea. We have made Draycote aware of your intentions and so the rib transport shouldn't be a problem.

I should probably let you know if you didn't know already, that due to other pre arranged events at Draycote we will not be able to launch until 1pm on Saturday but will still have a full afternoons sailing. Not really sure what the weather will be like as it is too soon to see an accurate forecast but it looks like it might be a wet one.

Cheers,

Tim

Thanks for the information Tim, if the weather is dire for photography I won`t be attending basically the images won`t be right and the equipment is rather delicate and very expensive I am sure you understand.

Thanks again for the swift reply

At the moment it looks like force 3 and sunny with the possibility of showers, if that remains the same I will be attending the key factor is the sunshine and wind the possibility of showers isnt a problem.

Loco will be there with crew, sadly helm still doing college work. I'm good to sail with anyone who will have me. I will be there from am on Sat, and can stay for Sun if needed.

I think the potential boat list is;

Loco Pero
Cheese before Bedtime
Exultant Jubilation
Antidote to Panel Games
Slippery when wet

Atum Bom?
Shiny? Are Dave and Lara coming?

Who else?!

I think Tim U is bringing Atum on sat and Paul is joining on sun, but it might be just a rumour.

Iain Christie has asked that if we are around on Sun, would we consider taking part in the assy windward/leeward races, of which there will be two.

I think this sounds like a great idea: it's a chance to do a race with a Cherub guest.

This sounds good Will. They have a good 29er fleet amongst other things at Draycote so there should be some reasonable boats out.

At least four folk who've scored top ten results in 29er worlds had their first sail in a performance boat in Halo Jones...
