Hi all,
I'm sailing Knightmare, sail no 2445 that I bought in the Autumn. I am considering converting the symmetrical spinnaker pole system to twin carbon poles a la Merlin Rockets. Can someone who is up on their class rules please let me know whether this is legal or not as I still want the boat to be class legal.
Are there any other people out there sailing boats with symmetrical kites? If so do you have any tips on setup or systems that work for you.
Any help much appreicated.
Cheers,
Ed

Ed - the other option is to convert her to an aysmetric?
This can be done using faily crude lashed bowrit and additional kite. I think we have one spare - but would need to check this over the weekend. Where are you sailing?

Two things about changing to asymmetric:
I'm not sure of the boat's ability to take the loads.
Also my crew and I quite enjoy sailing symmetric spinnakers
-
Ed,
Rules wise what you propose is absolutely fine.

Knightmare was sailed at Burghfield by a guy with a beard who had been president of the Int Moth class.
Do you know who that is?

I wrote up my current thinking for the website a couple of years ago:-

I think its still representative of my thinking for whatthat's worth.
Twin *Cherub* poles... Hmm. sooner you than me I think!

Yes that could be a lot of pole to handle.
A sticky weekend project perhaps?
