Inlands are at Queen Mary Sailing Club, 8/9 October.
Start time Saturday 12PM, Start time Sunday 11AM. 3 races back to back each day
NoR and SI's posted on QM website - http://www.queenmary.org.uk/racing.aspx
Points are very close for the traveller series so this is a must for those wishing to end this year on a high especially as the inlands are non discardable.
Who's game?
-
I am available to crew!
-
Dean is not available this weekend. I'm available to crew with or without Eleanor.
-
My high will be getting Fuzzy Logic on the water! Plan is to be there; and we also have been offered the 'best' bed in Andy and Jills house! Thanks Andy.
-
Planning on being here not sure if we will have madge with us though.
-
I have two very keen 29er (top 10 ish in silver fleet 2016 nationals) sailors wanting to cherub and are avalible for the inlands.
Does anyone have a spare boat?
-
I've got an RS200 available ;D
-
If we chainsaw the back off, would it measure?
-
Floor space available at our house as usual. No need to book!
-
Thanks Andy I'll be there
-
So who do we have for this one?
Usagi
Shinny
Eleanor
Fuzzy (if finished......)
Madge
Green B's
Ronin
Squid
Who else? Only sharing with the RS700's so we should have plenty of space and quick turn-arounds.
-
There was talk of the kipper turning up.
-
A+E should be there
.
-
Me and Ellie with Squid will be there
-
Dean is not available this weekend. I'm available to crew with or without Eleanor.
Si - you found anyone to sail Eleanor with? I might be able to find you a helm.
-
I'm crewing for Jay, so assume I'm on the front of EJ
-
I certainly hope so. Sadly it is the only representative of Bethnal Green Marine that will be at qmsc :-(
Can we get a photo of Si with the travellers trophy. Due to my incompetence as class sec. he and dean were not awarded it in 2014...
-
Yep. the Fuzz is looking like it might be there!!! Need a spinny though??? Is anyone able to lend me 1?
What is the preferred make at the moment?
-
Hi Ade,
I assume that Fuzzy will be fully foiling. In which case the only option is the Lennon 9m2 1.5oz code zero.
Only 2 have been made.
We will be using ours. I don't know if Riot Van will be there with theirs.

Sorry - not been keeping up!
Yes, I'm bringing EJ to sail with Si
-
Ade, could bring a dynamic kite for you to try. They are flat in the cut, not code zero though
-
Re Fuzzy; ...not fully foiling as too much to sort with the rig set up + i have been in the 'ideas room' with the wand bit and, hey-presto, its not ready!
As the the rig. - Mast has 15cm of forwards deck travel, canting 15 * and mega raking capability. Jib is looking like what I want. Main is not yet cut to the shape I want... and the boat... well its still not finished...hoping to get it on the water sometime tomorrow.
See you all next weekend, hopefully with a sailing boat.
Yes please on the kite Si.
-
Marmite will be there, first sail since the Nationals! (Thought I'd get the excuses in early!)
-
Does anyone fancy crewing king tubby?
Thanks in advance
Martyn
-
Not sure if Hannah is still available Martyn. See second post on this thread
-
Crew sorted now
-
Madge is looking for crew, or Ill crew for someone
-
Back to needing a crew
-
Back to needing a crew
Sure we can sort something out if you still don't have someone by the weekend? Hopefully we both find crew though
-
Marmites out. Ed can’t make it (due to a family emergency) and I am working way for most of the next two weeks so a weekend away isn’t good timing for family. I have a non refundable room booked for Friday and Saturday night at the local premier inn if anyone it still looking for accommodation PM me. Have a good one you all.
-
Thanks everyone who contributed to making it a great weekend!
Next time can we order more wind please?
-
From facebook - it looks like we congratulate a new generation aboard Riot Van! Who came third - I'm keen to hear what happened
(PS I ended up coming third in the final Monaco Smerelda regatta. Really missed all of you. I was drafted in at the last minute to crew, after my work flights for the weekend evaporated)
-
1st Riot Van - Eddie and Sam
2nd was Andy and Jill - Usagi
3nd Ronin - Hobbits
Not sure on the rest of the results.
From the shore day two looked like, 3 races, race 4 started with some being late on the start, boats split the course and the top mark was busy as the 05 rule boats queued up to round the windward mark. If memory serves me correctly Usagi laid the bouy on port while most the other boats came in on starboard. EJ and Green Bananas didnt lay on starboard and had to pop a quick tack in last minute, there was allot of wind compression in the top mark which effected the rounding for some boats, those who hoisted quickly launched off and out of the gust. After that, I sort of lost what was happening, from my view 1st 2nd 3rd were pretty much unchanged for the rest of the 4 laps, 4th 5th 6th changed quite allot depending on the beat and the downwind, but there was some close finishing between Shiny and Green Bananas as Shiny over-stood the finish line and had to drop the kite to make the finish while GB blasted past.
Race 5- no idea.
Race 6- Allot less wind on average, mixture between napping in the bow and twin stringing. Very tricky.
-
'race 4 started with some being late on the start, boats split the course and the top mark was busy as the'
..... Don't remind me. :S
For the second time that weekend we thought everyone was keen for the 5min gun/kazoo.
-
1st Eddie and Sam. I was a little further down the field.

Report from Alex:
With the season drawing to a close ten UK-Cherubs took the opportunity to take to the water for the Cherub Inlands at Queen Mary Sailing club for to days of racing in sunshine.
Along with the usual suspects were a few more 97 rules boats than we have become used to in the last few events and with around 5-10 knots of wind, close racing was on the agenda.
From the start it was clear Eddie and Sam, sailing Riot van, were here for business, pulling a port Flyer off the line on the first race to take a comfortable lead up the first leg as the fleet chased, Conditions proved tricky, with a few ladders and plenty of snakes to be found on the course wriggling your way through the elusive lifts paid in a big way and it was the local favourites Andy and Gill Peters On Board Usagi that made the most sense to win the first race with Riot van second and Ronin third. Special mention to Jamie and Rosie who tore through the field on board The Shiny Beast after being late to the start to finish in a solid fourth. By race three momentum had shifted and it as Riot Van that went into the overnight break with two wins from three races and the event lead.
Just as interesting was the battling for position in the 97 rules boats with three boats challenging for position. Saturdays racing was tighter than the leaders and certainly closer than it looked on the score boards at the end of the day. After the days racing it was Greg and Stephen Sailing Madge that headed the field, but with crew Stephen unable to make Sundays racing that was all to change.
After the now seemingly mandatory Saturday night Curry and road cone foolery along with some well earned rest, Sunday brought twin wiring conditions for the 05 rules boats, with wind gradually reducing throughout the day.
As race four started the leading trio once again found their feet and team Riot Van continued to stretch their legs and pulled another two wins to confirm the series win. With Ronin struggling to get off the line in race five, Usagi was all but confirmed to finish second and Ronin to be third. This had the interesting effect of two boats finishing the travellers trophy on equal points forcing the results to be decided on count back, meanwhile Elanor and Jimmy managed to sail a consistent regatta to wind up with honours in the 97 rules Category.
With another season of cherub sailing coming to a close, in terms of open meetings, it would be easy to try and look back and try and establish things we have learned over the year, this can sometimes get too thorough for my liking so ill keep it simple;
First- Foiling is clearly faster once there is enough wind.
Second- and most importantly Cherubs in whichever configuration you have, are still a huge amount of fun to sail.
I would like to congratulate Eddie Bridle and Sam Curtis on Winning the 2016 Cherub Inlands and Andy and Jill Peters on taking the 2016 Travellers trophy.
Also, i would like to thank Queen Mary Sailing club for hosting the event and getting races managed so well, the Rs700 class for sharing the event, as well as all the competitors who came along. I hope to be seeing you all again next year.

Can we put this on the front page?
Nothing updated there since before the nationals (and normal people can't post on the wiki)
-
Agreed - I though get an error when accessing the news page. Can anyone else access it?
