Title: Split mast track - repair ideas please
Post by: andy_peters on May 02, 2016, 07:03:23 PM
We have split our plastic mast track for about 10cm on one side- about half way up where a batten levered itself out in a windy race today.
Is there any way of repairing this without chopping out the damaged section and replacing it?

Any pictures?
You could try backing up the damage with some carbon.
I suspect that you will need to replace the section.

What is this windy race practice?

Hi Andy, I am still in the workshop and you are out sailing - guess I got it wrong, again.

I have always found to replace a section with a new piece especially near the batten point. Go 50mm above and below the damaged part should be enough. Any repair is usually only a temp measure and has never been fully successful. Will  the 800 track fit?

How is Fuzzy progressing Ade?
A+E is ready to go but we need some fast hardener for Alex's hand.
Hopefully the super glue is working on Joe.
