Title: Anyone know what this is?
Post by: stafford1977 on August 28, 2015, 05:54:16 PM
Found this on Apolloduck: http://sailingdinghies.apolloduck.co.uk/image.phtml?id=440475&image=1

Wondered if it was the "cherub for heavyweights" prototype featured in a very old issue of yachts and yachting in the 80s / early 90s... I think Bob Clements had something to do with it... or perhaps it's a cherub conversion?

I did see something similar at the 12ft skiff interdominions in Aus a few years back - a slightly toned down version of the full 12 to act as a trainer. Doubt this would have made it over from there though.

Looks like it's not far from me so might go and take a look.

I read somewhere recently about a "ronstan micro skiff", which I suspect this is - the picture certainly looks the same if tattier.

Apparently it was a one off trapeze singlehander with pretty much an 05 cherub sized rig on it, and extremely wide (12 foot overall beam apparently) extendable racks.

Does look pretty rough as is though, and I could so easily be wrong.
