At the Nationals we discussed visiting Draycote in September (now shifted to November) for a blasting weekend.
Confirmed as the weekend 14/15th Nov. so people can leave their boats at Draycote and do the Dash the following weekend if they so wish.
-
'Hi the 12th 13th is an option, Bart's bash weekend will be a no'
From the water manager.
So, the usual silly questions, what do we want?
Photographer?
Rib?
Food?
and i take it we will join in with sundays windward/leeward racing?
-
all sounds good. I'm in and will be there with cheese for Saturday.
-
Wonderful, from memory a rib is £100, I can ask around for a photographer.
So as usual price to be arranged on the day.
I'm guessing same program as last year, blasting Saturday and join in club racing Sunday.
Accommodation: il try and find somewhere nice to send the parents, then Pearson HQ will be available.
-
Good man Jamie, if the weather is good we will be there with Usagi
-
I will be there Saturday.Out to Greece on Sunday. Joe possibly both days depending if he can get home.
-
Due to illness i didnt phone the water manager (cant hear anything or speak much) i can only apologise.
will try tomorrow.
-
Won't be able to make it unfortunately have a wedding that weekend. Would rather be blasting!
-
All, the blast is being shifted to November though still at Draycote. Potentially the weekend 14/15th so people can leave their boats at Draycote and do the Dash the following weekend if they so wish.
Jamie will be confirming this after he has spoken to the water manager
-
Have got a green light for the 14/15th of November at Draycote.
This is the week before the Draycote Dash, that means you can come to the blast, leave your boat there and collect it the following weekend and compete in the dash.
so clear your weekends, or you better have a VERY good excuse not to be at either of the events!
-
All things being well, and post nationals repairs holding up, Banshee will be there.
-
I will be going hopefully to both.
How can we publicise this to get people in to the class as try a boat?
Weather permitting I will take people for a spin the best boat for the job.
-
I have made a Facebook event, but I'm not sure how far to push it.
I could share it on all the sailing clubs home page, but that could well be annoying for people
Has anyone got any other ideas?
-
The plan is a little clearer now.
I will be crewless for the Blast so I will take passengers in one boat or another.
I will bring Little Chilly with me.
What other peoples plans.
As I have no interest what people have for lunch even if it is in a famous coffee chain I will let others give advise on Facebook.
-
Replying to you now from said establishment with a free beverage steaming away in front of me, I give you 3 options.
1. Curry house we used last year, in dunchurch means we can invite the non cherub people as its on their way home.
2. Drive back to pearson HQ, warwick, then walk up in to the centre for a weatherspoons.
3. Something compleatly different. (Please make suggestions.)
I would create a poll. Buy my telephone isnt having it.
-
Can we agree to all try to buy some form of reduced to clear firework and have an evening "blast" as well?
-
But then we need a responsible adult!
-
Well i'm an adult but. We just need someone responsible
-
If and when we re-join Netley (hopefully next season) we will reinstate the Bonfire Blast!
-
Intend to be there for a blast
-

yes please
-
I will be there with a friend, sadly not with Crazy, but we are both relatively competent and would love a ride in whatever is going!
-
Shall I publicise this in Y&Y for non-Cherubists - say spaces will be available for rides on a 'try a cherub' basis?
-
Sounds like a good idea but check with Jamie I think he said we already have a few coming but if we know how many other helms/boats are free would may be able to take more.
-

Excellent news
-
Got to work on Saturday now. Probably won't make it.
-
Boooooooooooooo!!!
-
Apologies we didn't make it - family illness. How was the blast? Pretty windy all weekend.
-
So, what happened?
The biblical wind didn't turn up, that's what.
The Midlands possee anticipated massive wind so left everything at home.
Upon arrival at the club we found a Ching! Rigging born slippy too!!
A plan was hurried together that involved a heroic dash from Draycote to Warwick for sails the angriest green boat.
The rest of the day was spent taking people for joy rides in sub epic cherub wind.
Boats in attendance were:
Banshee ambulance
Born slippy
Ej
Loco
Shiny
But let it be said, it was a good days sailing, just to be on the water again.
-
Anyone doing the Dash?
Good luck to those that are. Looks like a mix of wind and not too warm.
-
some of us are doing it, but not in cherubs :S
Robin a streaker
Ellie a laser
josh a scorpian
and me a lowrider
Reason being, its not going to be a cherub friendsly course.
also we dont want to damage what clive has done to our handicap i recent years.
-
Best you damage it and badly. Clive is far too fast.
-
The issue with that is that I would then have to wake up earlier to start the race with the oppis.
Swings and round about a I suppose.
-
I spent a week getting obliterated by everything at Brightlingsea in th summer, mind you I was racing off of Riot Vans handicap of 890
-
Have fun with the hiking. These events are not easy in a cherub.
However sailjuice have us on the same py as the 29er. In the right conditions a cherub could win. 90% off starters cannot.
It will require a lot of luck. But would be great publicity. People still remember Guy winning the bloody Mary in flat Stanley.
If the forecast is good we will try and see the Datchet flyer.
