Details to be added when available
-
Online entry is now available for this event, go to the website for details but would advise early entry to all who are coming to this one. Not sure if there is a limit on spaces.
-
The link to entries appears to be this:

The people running this event have taken the "iPhone" user experience is king approach.

Andy is this a three day event or is there a "Cherub" button I can't see.
-
It is a 3 day event but only Sat and Sunday races will count for the traveler series. I will see if we can get a 2 day entry but don't count on it. There should be a Cherub entry button, must say I haven't looked as not sure yet we will be going. Likely to be a last minute decision depending on how other things play out.
-
I am not sure this is correct but is it £79 to enter?
Ouch!
No wonder they can offer a couple of quid of an expensive lunch.
Probably still go but I can't say I am a happy bunny.
-
Unfortunately our other options of in May of Weirwood or Chew closed down and Draycote would have been more expensive than SailFest (guaranteed minimum of almost £1000 through entry fees). So it was either Sailfest or no May event.
As a slight mitigation the first two Cherubs at Sailfest get first grab at attending the 'Battle of the classes' at the Southampton Boat Show and free entry for the crew to the show.
There is a dedicated Cherub link to entering Sailfest.

We intend to be there.
Hopefully it will be professionally run.
It can be a great venue.

We're not going to make this one as I'm working.
-
Not going to make it, at the U21 team racing event on the Monday and exams and a navy interview the next week!
-
Who is planning to go to this event?
Other than the D zero entries look very poor.
-
cool beans will be there
-
Is it just as and Clive?
-
Poppy will be there
-
I am not sure that we will have all of our foil mods completed by Saturday.
-
Currently it appears to be a Trim match race.
-
The little chilly has a good track record of coming second.
I thought this may be something difficult to live up to but with 2 boats I think second should be possible.
-
We were planning on this one but I'm taking my parents to my Uncles funeral on Fri/Sat and Sunday we are off to Wembley for the play off final.
Do we think the cost has put off punters?
Hopefully we will see a return to a more normal sized fleet at Weston and Weymouth.
-
Good luck to the red boats this weekend.
Clive.

Just to let you know a red boat with a Trim in it won this highly competitive event.
The sailing was set on a short trapezoid cause which for a simple Cherub sailor was dizzying and no less complicated when they started moving marks during the racing on the Saturday.
The racing was close with lead changes a plenty. Unfortunately on short legs it was hard to find the full pace needed as most of the time was spent threading in and out of other boats.
To be honest for the little chilly team it was the best event we could of had, lots of manoeuvres lumpy washing machine water and variable winds across 2 days.
The other sailors in the event were friendly and made it a fun event. I think neither of the cherubs regretted a good weekends sail.
The more astute of you will sense a but coming.
But Sailfest has now made it to the top of the leader board for worst run events. This is a tight run thing as other events I have been to include one in which I capsized on a start line so short nobody could start and another where they had a reach with a sandbank only locals new about in the middle of a reach. Sailfest wins because the others were armature clubs trying their best.
In conclusion it was a great weekend with some good racing and good company and funny organisation, I loved it but I don't think I will try again next year.
I will let the current leader of the travellers series bore you with results.
-
Well done to both of you for attending.
It is frustrating to hear that they are not doing it properly.
We did not manage to get the Cherub afloat this weekend but have finished a long list of mods and hopefully will be afloat next weekend and race ready for Weston.

Nice picture of team Poppy

Cherub number 36. Didn't realise it was that old.
-
if you could post the result I will provide a series leaderboard to date.
-
First Cherub event in ages - clearly you all wanted to spare me the embarrassment of witnessing just how rusty I am - but a shame not to see more of you lovely lot.
Not exactly cherub conditions or courses. Day one involved far too much time in the playpen for my liking. But day two had it's moments. A couple of them airborne.
Big thanks to Dave for putting up with my less-than-slick crewing performance and for remembering which buoy was next most of the time.

results after 4 races 3214 won four races but was lucky more often than not 3216 came second.
