Title: 2015 Open Meeting 1 - Rutland Sailing Club 28/29 March
Post by: andy_peters on January 26, 2015, 07:17:27 PM
Similar to last year but hopefully warmer!  Further details to follow.  Shared event with B14/Musto/RS8000/49er

Entry fee - 49er, B14 , Cherub, £39

There will be a competitor briefing in the wet bar at 11:00 hrs on Saturday and a total of six races are scheduled as follows:

i)   Saturday - The Warning signal for the first race will be at 12:00 and up to three further races will be held back to back.
ii)   Sunday - The Warning signal for the first race will be at 10:30 and up to three further races will be held back to back

Cherubs will be sailing the inner W/L loop (no reaching  ;D)

Evening Entertainment
In lieu of anything organised at the club (nothing in 2014) I suggest we make a booking at the local pub which does a steak and ribs option many found to be just the ticket after a cold days sailing last year.  If you would prefer something different to be organised post suggestions below.

Accommodation Options
At the club is cheap and convienient.  If you are looking elsewhere I can recommend Old Hall Coach House, Edith Weston, Rutland, LE15 8HQ, [email protected], www.oldhallcoachhouse.co.uk,01780 721504

Right - so who is going to the season opener at Rutland?  Will there be more racing here than blasting on Draycote last Saturday?

We unfortunately will be absent - at start time for the first race we should be having an evening meal in Manila.

This is not looking great. We will not be there as Alex needs to be in Exeter on Sunday for an artificial intelligence course.

Saturday was blown out but everyone went out for shorts sails during a lull in the wind after the rc canned the day.

Today started very light.  but built through out.  with the second race ending in a massive squall with the most of the Mustos Rs800 and the two remaining cherubs on their sides.  Ronin crossing the finish line just in front of madge who over shot the gate with the kite up and had to beat back to get across the finish.

Well done to Jonny and Alex for some solid sailing in big breeze.

Hey that was the three remaining Cherubs on their sides.

Must thank the class's new find "Rosie" for her sterling efforts and amazing progress up a very steep learning curve. The wash from the passing rib blew off into a horizontal wall of water and the jib gave out before she was willing to admit that we just could not get Poppy back up and into 1st gear...

..Anyone near Chew next week - I need to relearn water starts :-)
