We and Born Slippy took go-pro's to Garda.  I have lots of footage to edit.  As a taster here is a clip......

Andy very impressive helming when you were tidying after the gybe.
Why do you sail with so much heel? Clearly works but I just wondered if you think you get some benefit from it

Slightly random, but Garda-related post:

I had a look at the Auckland Skiff League Facebook page this morning to see what the Kiwi 12 Footer guys are up to. Answer - nothing much because it's the middle of winter, but the 18 Footer guys are just back from the Europeans at Lake Garda. I had a look at the regatta YouTube video which finished with the results sheet. Featuring amongst the helmsmen was a sailor by the name of Graham Bridle! Our former President??

P.S. Brilliant Cherub video footage. Would be great to see some more. I think there may be a few more volunteers for next year.

Yes Neil,
The current president was slaving away as bowman for him too with Eddie as sheet hand. Great regatta with a very steep learning curve. It was great to race against the Aussies and the Kiwis as well as all the other European boats. We were pretty pleased with our results given we were in one of the oldest boats with one of the oldest rigs.

Would have loved to have taken the cherub down there but it was just one too many things to fit on the trailer.

Been looking at Andy & Jill's video again, it's fantastic. There are what appear to be a few near-nosedive moments around 2.05 to 2.20. Shows how much finer the boats have become in recent years. With the old fuller bowed boats that would have been a sudden stop and a surprise swim for sure.

Not intentionally.  Our boat kicks up a lot of spray due to a low rear beam (and we didn't have t on to save stressing the boat so far from home).  Doesn't seem to slow us much but perhaps gives the impression of a lot of heel.  Doesn't feel like a lot when we are sailing.
