Title: some silly questions
Post by: JP233 on March 04, 2013, 01:40:18 PM
Hi,
I forgot to ask some questions at the dinghy show they are:

How 'tall' are new cherub hulls (E5 onwards)
and how wide they are (gunwale to gunwale)?

I'm designing a concept cherub for a college project and need this info to make a hull on freeship.

Or if someone has a hullplan I could get a copy of it would save me a fair bit of time.

you will find the minimum hull depth at mid length measurement in the rules:
http://www.uk-cherub.org/lib/exe/fetch.php/tech/uk_cherub_class_rules_2011.pdf (http://www.uk-cherub.org/lib/exe/fetch.php/tech/uk_cherub_class_rules_2011.pdf)

its 450mm from the lowest point on the hull.

As for width, I'm not sure, of exact figures but the chine has to be at least 900mm apart at some point on the hull and the gunwale to gunwale measurement depends on whether you go for roll out (like marmite) or roll in (like cool beans). As you probably saw at the show, solid wings are also back on the table for the first time for a few years meaning GtoG of 1800mm.

Someone will be along with some figures relating to actual boats in a bit.

http://www.uk-cherub.org/doku.php/designs/banshee (http://www.uk-cherub.org/doku.php/designs/banshee) has quite a few measurements and 'dxf' mould files.
