It's back!
The Bonfire Blast
Netley Sailing Club
3-4 November
And yes - there will be fireworks!
It's been far too long since the last Cherub event but thanks to Tim and Kate Noyce and Netley Sailing Club, a re-run of last year's very successful Bonfire Blast is on the cards.
The plan:
Saturday 3rd November - go for a sail, do some tuning/training/testing/swapping, chance for people to have go.
Saturday night - Very impressive fireworks; eat and drink at club (details TBC). Camping at club
Sunday 4 November - 2 club races
Cost TBC but last year was very reasonable and should not be too different this time around. [Tim will collect money and account to the club].
The perfect pre-Inlands warm up!
-
Sam and I will be there with Atum. Can't wait!
This was awesome last year even though we hadn't the first clue how to sail a cherub!
-
Too soon after we get back from holiday and I think and Sam has big sleepover thingy bonfire weekend (or urban camp if the weather's OK, I believe)
-
We are away visiting Helen's sister in Florida.
QM is going to seem very cold when we get back.

We too are otherwise engaged. Final RS200 SEAS meeting and as I'm the series organiser can't really miss it.
-
Nor me I am afraid.
-
Both Born Slippy and Evo will be there.
-
Fleet nationals with the Uni for me I'm afraid :( This was a great event last year, I'm quite jealous!
-
Sorry, already busy that weekend. Arse!
-
Boats coming so far:
Comfortably Numb
Evo
Born Slippy
Atum Bom
lets see if we can get some more numbers to this. As previously stated it will be a great opportunity to get some practice in pre Inlands. The fireworks were AWESOME too!
-
Logistically - Shiny may replace Born Slippy for the blast.
No pressure on anyone reading this who may blush, but I will be very dissapointed if Duck Wars is not there as well!
-
I think that all varieties of Kiddle will be attending so hopefully they will be able to muster up a boat between them too. I'm looking forward to it, as Ben says, as a social event last year was excellent and we should be able to get some class racing on Sunday too.
-
Can anyone lend us a T-Foil (to fit an Aardvark stock) for this one?
-
I can Rob, just that I am not going to the blast, so getting it to you is the difficult part .....
-
Rob, We will have Evo's.
Tom will most liklely be setting Maf's one up on Evo for the inlands - so one potentially spare.
-
Its looking like we wont be able to make this one due to car trouble. Thanks for the offer though. Rob.

Morning chaps,
The forecast for the weekend seems to be improving with less wind and maybe even the chance of some sun! Yay! I am aiming to be down at the club for 10ish, so for those of you that have not been before my number is 07828 662185 so give me a call when you get to a locked gate which you can't open and I will give you the code.
Due to the fireworks in the evening, can I ask everyone to get there BEFORE 5PM as otherwise you will have to pay entry to the country park as they will have the place on lockdown untill 8pm with a one way system in place.
Social for the evening is still open to negotiation, we will see what is on offer at the club and if this doesn't float our boat we can have a wander down into Hamble to re-aquaint ourselves with the King and Queen Rum Pub. I am sure there there are still a few varieties which we didn't sample last year!
Camping is available on site so if you are brave (/stupid) then bring your tent so that you are on site and ready for action on Sunday. There will be 2 races, with the first start at 11am.
-
Thank s Tim. Really looking forward to this. B&B booked - wimped out of the tent option.
Sailing for me is likely to be somewhere between very limited and non-existent due to recurrence of arm injury (but for those of you putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 16, don't worry, I can still drink with my left arm).
-
Thanks for a lovely weekend.
Sorry for ducking out early on Sunday, We missed the company/sailing, but we got to watch the GP, do decorating and hit 1 on a bowsprit instead (Clive the mandrel will be at the Inlands).

Thanks for a great weekend! Conditions were definitely pretty epic on Sunday. Sam and I had a great blast up and down Southampton water. Unfortunately we had a slight mishap with a bolt snapping that held the caps on to the top of the mast leading to the floppy tip becoming even more floppy. Slightly alarming when you are going at warp 9 with the kite up. Anyway, by the time we had come in and taken the sails off, the conditions had reduced to being decidedly sub-epic with an rs700 drifting around. Quick repair job was done last night to fill the hole, will redrill and put a new, bigger bolt through in time for the inlands.
